Starters
Let me ask you a couple of questions. First, how many times has Max now been on the IL? Three? And second, yes, Jake is pitching now, but how long did it take him to hit the mound this season?
Teams will always be held hostage by aging, 30+ starters, regardless if they have a previous injury history. Age is the major balancer here and the body will begin to breakdown as soon as your birthday starts with a “3”.
The only… I repeat…ONLY solution to this is to draft or internationally sign starters year after year. You’re not looking for five here. You need six and a seventh in the tank just in case.
The Mets draft kids have been piling up these past three years and here’s a workable ETA for our best:
2023 AA - Dominic Hamel, Mike Vasil, Carson Seymour
2023 A+ - Matt Allan*, Calvin Zeigler, Keyshawn Askew, Blade Tidwell**, Javier Atencio, Joel Diaz, Christian Scott
2023 A - Richard Brito
* Allan would be pitching Syracuse in 2013 if he never went down with TJS. Add to this a very long recovery period, and he could start the season anywhere from Binghamton to Lucy. My guess is Brooklyn.
**Tidwell could move very fast here. Easily could open with the B-Mets.
This year began the flood of young bats that will continue on 2023.
The starters will, well, start, in 2024.

Dock Ellis Pitches No-Hitter on LSD and Bill Lee Makes Special Pancakes
In this picture, Ellis is actually facing center field as the coaches yell for him to turn around.
Dock Ellis thought he had the day off to have a relaxing trip.
When his friend's girlfriend told him he had to pitch against the Padres, he rushed to board a plane and reached his peak when he was on the mound.
"I can only remember bits and pieces of the game. I was psyched. I had a feeling of euphoria," he said.
If that doesn't get you in the Hall of Fame, what does?
Bill Lee was also a unique individual.
Not only did he talk to animals, practice yoga and study Eastern philosophers, he even sprinkled marijuana on his buckwheat pancakes.
He was fined $250 by Commissioner Bowie Kuhn.
Mack - Bill Lee is actually still pitching, this time for the Savannah Bananas’ touring team.

Mack.
Wasn't Carson Seymour included in the Ruff trade? I think we have lost him.
you are right
DOH
Matt Allan needs to be more like Bill Lee.
Butto did well last night.
I wonder what Epps was on when he made that trade.
