"HEY!! METS WIN, BRAVES LOSE!
The Mets beat the AAA White Sox (31-106) yesterday, 5-3.
Jesse Winker 3 hits, .342 as a Met. Pete’s 30th…heating up…or is it just bad opposing pitching? And Quintana goes (just) 5 for the W.
The other Mets’ teams, in the minors, scored a lot yesterday.
But lost all 4 games by a combined score of 35-26. Pitching has thinned out due to trades and Mets’ deep dives into the minors for healthy pitchers.
Bad pitching? Hamel, Lucchesi, McLean. Not the only ones.
Bright notes…Trey Snyder debuts in St Lucie with 2 for 5, 2 RBIs. Corey Collin’s first HR, 2 hits, 3RBIs, too.
Marvelous Morabito (.307) had 2 hits, including a HR, and his 59th steal.
CALL UPS?
Alex Young, Pablo Reyes.
Reyes had 11 HRs and a .294 average in 218 AAA at bats, and has had 521 career MLB at bats (.248). I get the call ups.

Nice to see the ‘24 draftees off to such promising starts in St. Lucie. Maybe (just maybe?) we finally have an honest to goodness promising draft class.
One other promotion we missed was Ronald Hernandez going to Brooklyn. Welcome Ron!
I know that we are distracted by the future of prospects and free agents, but it’s September 1 and the Mets are two games out of a playoff spot. Of the four teams orbiting the three spots, it’s the DBacks that I have the least confidence in. Two reasons: 1. They have a pretty tough schedule left: .525 winning% and I believe that is of the toughest remaining schedules in MLB (unless you’re the White Sox whom everyone plays at a .750 clip, LOL). 2. The DBacks don’t excite me pitching wise or offense and have played way over their heads this year. How Lovello does it, I don’t know.
Also, the Pablo Reyes promotion is interesting. It sends a message that production and not names or prospect pedigree will dictate. Yes, it allows Acuna to keep playing every day, but in truth, does the kid deserve it? Would have liked to see Fujinami…. I hope he is in the forty man for later and into October.
The Mets got pretty lucky leaving Butto in there…. I wasn’t happy that Mendoza put so much risk on a first year player with a lousy walk streak lately.
Gus, good points. Challenges up ahead, maybe Reyes can help.
Gus, how do you think Ryan Clifford compares to former Met Kirk Nieuwenhuis?
Neuwenheis was defense and power with speed, not really a good eye. I can’t tell you who the better hitter is, but Kirkkk had a blind spot for off speed pitches
Good summary
