Trade Targets

Josh Naylor, 1B,
Diamondbacks
The
Diamondbacks say they will be buyers at the trade deadline, with acquiring
pitching the priority. However, opposing teams believe they’ll be sellers, or
at least open to trading their impending free-agent bats for more pitching; one
of those hitters, Naylor, was mentioned more than any other position player by
execs in our poll.
Naylor, 28,
is slashing .304/.359/.471 with 10 home runs and 53 RBIs. Last season, he
mashed 31 home runs with 108 RBIs for Cleveland. Several teams, including the
Mariners, Rangers, Giants, Reds and Red Sox, need a power bat like Naylor.
In his second appearance with Triple-A
Syracuse and seventh of his rehab assignment, Raley recorded four outs Tuesday,
going an inning-plus and allowing only one hit. In eight innings during his
ramp up in preparation for the major leagues, Raley has allowed just six hits
and one walk with 12 strikeouts.
Raley always relied on movement. But his
velocity — his sinker averaged 89.7 mph Tuesday— resembles the same speed from
2023 of 89.9 mph, when he was a key cog in the Mets’ bullpen and threw a 2.80
ERA in 66 appearances. In 2024, Raley tossed seven scoreless innings before his
elbow’s betrayal.
As a final step, Raley anticipates
throwing back-to-back appearances for the first time during his rehab
assignment on Saturday and Sunday.
The Mets need him. They are operating
without a proven late-inning lefty in the bullpen.

It's so cool that Peterson was named to the all-star team
He's come so far
Today they get back the guy that was leading the NL with the lowest ERA
Then Manaea
Beginning today there will be pitching
Mack,
Are you seeing Naylor as a DH and at first base if Pete leaves? He would be a rental we would have to extend I believe I am right. What would it take to acquire him? He would certainly improve our offense.
Rico Garcia has been placed on the DFA.
Yes, Naylor is a FA at the end of the season
Benefits:
A replacement for Pete if he bolts
More productive than any DH on the team
Naylor is a chubster and a poor fielder. They don't age well. He is a good hitter though, would be great as a rental/DH
Guess they thought he was less valuable than Hagenman or Waddell
Silly boys
Raley should come back this weekend, not after they stumble into the ASB. COME ON.
