Mike Vaccaro NY Post: “Yes, the Mets were up 7-1 on the Padres, and cruising in front of thousands of sun-splashed summer campers at Citi Field. Yes, despite some shaky moments from Bobby Parnell and one awful beach ball from Hansel Robles, they were still up 7-5 on the Padres with two outs in the top of the ninth, and 0-1 count on Derek Norris….Yes. This is when it started to rain. Hard. And then Biblically. Yes, the Mets looked incredulous as Dale Scott, the umpires’ crew chief, waved everyone off the field.”

NY Post: Mets suffer a rain-soaked absolute gut-ripper of a loss. With the Mets just one out away from a fourth win in five games, the game was stopped for 44 minutes by rain. Familia came out to try to close it after the delay.  Instead, he gave up consecutive singles to Derek Norris and Matt Kemp before Upton’s homer to right-center. The game was delayed yet again after Familia finally got the last out of the inning, this time for 2:52. The Mets couldn’t rally in the bottom of the inning against Craig Kimbrel.

Was surprised that Terry brought back Familia after a 44 minute delay.  He wasn't the same after the long delay and it showed.  I am guessing Terry asked him how he felt and Familia wanted to go back out but that's where a manager should make the call.  I sure Terry won't make that mistake again in 2015.

Nationals beat the Marlins 1-0 to extend their 1st place lead to 3 games.  Nationals and Mets start a big 3 game series at Citi Field ten years ago tomorrow - 7/31/2015.

Hansel Robles was a magician when it came to making leads disappear.

Robles would either have it or he didn't on a given day - more often he didn't. Was the reason why Brooklyn made the playoffs in 2011 but he could never find consistency in the Majors.
