Wood Bats: 11-14 from: - http://www.ncaa.org/blog/2010/11/dii-commissioners-take-a-crack-at-wood-bats  - There are a couple of Division 2 conferences right now that use wood-bats exclusively including the entire New England region. At an October meeting for the Division II Conference Commissioners Association (CCA), they agreed on the following language: “The D-II Conference Commissioners Association endorses and supports the idea of wood bats, with the intention of NCAA Division II moving toward a wood bat-only division by 2012-13.” Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Commissioner Butch Raymond said the CCA commitment is just the first step in the process: “We didn’t necessarily say that we’re definitely putting wood bats in for 2012-13. We’re going to start working toward that process. We feel like we’re going to have to work from the bottom up. In other words, we’ll probably have to go region by region, conference by conference. We support the concept. We have all agreed to do what we can working toward that, but it’s certainly not a mandatory thing for 2012-13.”

Sonny Gray: - 11-11-10 from: - http://xmlbscout.angelfire.com/  - #16 - RHP Sonny Gray Vanderbilt 5'10 190 - quality arm with ability to get the fb up there to 97 mph, pitches with aggressive demeanor and hard downer 12/6 cb that's one of the best going into the 2011 MLB Draft. Throws strikes, mostly in 91-93 range early in games will reach back when he needs to, has gotten better each time out and had a great summer for TEAM USA in 2010. Comps to Roy Oswalt and this kid should advance quickly barring any unforeseen set backs. Great kid!

Nolan Fontana: - 11-8-10 from: - http://diamondscapescouting.com/rankings_usacnttop15_09082010.html  - ss Florida (So.) - Fontana was one of the most sure-handed shortstops in the college game last year, providing consistency and leadership in the infield as a true freshman. Additionally, he showed a keen eye at the plate, logging non-intentional walks in 18% of his plate appearances while striking out just 10% of the time. He continued to show an advanced approach this summer as the only National Team member to walk more often than he struck out (16 BB, 11 SO, 61 PA). He's on track to develop into a potential 1st Rounder in 2012 and should have the inside track at repeating as the USA CNT shortstop next summer.

Garrett Nuss: - 11-5-10: - http://www.perfectgame.org/Articles/View.aspx?article=5095  – WWBA stars - RHP Garrett Nuss (Orlando Scorpions): On the other hand Nuss, Meyer’s present teammate on the Scorpions and potential future teammate at Central Florida, doesn’t have that type of consistency yet. I’ve seen Nuss flash 3 plus pitches before but rarely more than one at a time. He came close to that in Jupiter, pitching at 90-91 for 4 solid innings with good feel and command of his curveball and changeup

George Springer: - 11-11-10 from: - http://xmlbscout.angelfire.com/  - #8 - OF George Springer Connecticut 6'3 205 R/R - a rejuvenation to a solid program that used to appear in the CWS in Omaha years back, this young man has plus tools across the board, strength is his power and pure straight away running speed, arm is plus and he has good range, instincts are ok to play either OF corner and even CF if needed. Will steal bases on occ and comps to Jeff Franceour, so he should produce some runs as a 3 or 5 hole hitter in a lineup. Mike Schmidt sure did strike out often, earlier in his beginning years with the Phillies, scouts should look the other way when he swings and misses and just relish to run production and defensive ability this guy is going to produce in the BIGS!

11-11-10 from: - http://www.tossitaround.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=9256:top-70-prospects-for-the-2011-draft-2&catid=92:prospect-news&Itemid=127  - George Springer is one of the rare players in the game of baseball that can hit for power and also have a great deal of speed. Springer is an all around athlete that always plays the game with a high level of intensity. He has tremendous potential especially as a power hitter at the next level. Springer had a very good sophomore season for the Huskies as he finished the season with a .337 average, 18 homeruns and 62 RBI. The other part of his game that has drawn some major attention is his speed on the base paths. During the season he stole 33 bases and was only caught 2 times. This is a major plus especially for someone who has the ability to drive the ball out of the ballpark. The one part of the game that Springer will need to work on is his contact at the plate. In 243 plate appearances on the season, Springer struck out 70 times. He also showed good plate discipline as he walked 60 times on the season but the strikeout number will be something that he needs to improve upon if he wants to remain an everyday player at the next level. Springer has a very good glove in the outfield and he displayed this during his sophomore season as he only made 1 error on the season. He also has a very good arm in the outfield and has the ability to keep the runners in check on the base paths. George Springer has a great amount of talent and will surely be a factor when the first day of the draft rolls around in June. He has the ability to become a 5-tool player at the next level and become a superstar. Springer was drafted when he was coming out of high school but he was drafted very late in the 48th round by the Minnesota Twins. He passed on the chance to play for the Twins and headed to UConn. This proved to be a very good decision as he has done nothing but impress in his 2 years on Campus. He has developed nicely and become a true threat to all of the opponents that face him. His draft stock has sky rocketed since being drafted in 2008. He has moved into an elite class of players and should be a top 5 draft pick in the 2011 draft.
