Observation –
There are plenty of 2014 free
agent here, but there are also plenty of prospects to fill the holes.
Tampa Bay is operating with the
wrong Molina and their DH isn’t working out. This is another perfect fit for
Buck, at least through the 2013 season.
You’re not going to pry away
Myers here, but Mahtook could be available. In addition, I assume Odorizzi and
Colome will fill the slots left open if Price and Hernandez departs. That
leaves Archer available.

Mahtook and Archer would be an interesting package. I wonder if the Mets could pry Guerieri.
But aren't we looking for someone that is 2014 ready?
I'm still of the mind of getting the best talent available. If they fit, great. If not flip for someone else.
flip the one person you may have to get you a player in 2014 for a player in 2015 when there are 28 other teams out there to negotiate with?
Would you prefer a so-so player just because he's ready in 2014 or a high ceiling 2015 player you can then market to teams who weren't interested in Buck?
You really want to keep this up, huh?
One more time...
the Mets need an OFer in 2014, thus, you don't trade your top chip for a player that won't be ready until 2015.
You call up one of the other 28 team.
Kapish?
