Red Sox:
We continue
on series of trying to identify teams that would be good homes for catcher John Buck, while, at the same time, snag ourselves a
top outfield or pitching prospect. Obviously, this trade would be made around
this year’s all-star break.
Two “no big
secrets” in Boston: One, they sucked last year, and two, they know how to
draft. The Red Sox have never been afread to pay out the bucks on Day One which
is the reason they have so little to spend this year under the new system.
Still, they will benefit for years from their past aggressive picks before the
new rules change.

Catcher wise,
the Mike Napoli fiasco is over and word I get is
they would love to upgrade from Salty and Ross. In addition, he could spell David Ortiz at the DH over the length of his contract
(2014).
Boston does
have an access of both outfield and pitching prospects and I would definitely
go for Brentz. The down side would be ‘settling’ for a pitcher like Barnes, but
you really need to get an outfielder here and the Red Sox simply have no room for Brentz.

The Mets could do worse than Brentz.
FYI though, Saltalamacchia is OPS'ing over .900. They may not need Buck.
