South Jersey
radio station to broadcast all 162 LA Angels' games:
Credit
local hero Mike Trout for the somewhat unusual
move by a New Jersey radio station to pick up play-by-play for a baseball team
located 3,000 miles away. Quinn Broadcasting’s talk WSNJ, Bridgeton, NJ (1240)
will broadcast all 162 Los Angeles Angels games after reaching an agreement
with the team and Major League Baseball, according to USA Today. WSNJ’s
rebroadcasts of KLAA, Los Angeles (830) will enable locals to follow the
on-field action of last year’s American League rookie of the year.
Did you notice
that Jackie Bradley Jr. was named to the 25-man
roster of the Boston Red Sox. Bradley was picked with the 40th
overall pick in the 2011 raft, 27 picks after the Mets picked a high school
outfielder. We all know the need for
Mets outfielders. Nothing against who was drafted but am I asking too much for
this team to draft college players for positional needs. JBJ could be in the
Mets outfield right now. Arg.
Word is multiple
teams are reaching out to Mets for possibly obtaining Marlon
Byrd or Collin Cowgill… just kidding.
Look, it’s one game and we’re far from saying we have a decent outfield. Just
remember that this team is going nowhere this year and, as long as you keep
saying it, the pressure will be off so they just might go somewhere. Think 2012 Baltimore Orioles.
I'm having lunch today with the members of the Savannah Sand Gnats, followed with media interviews at the stadium. I'll report back to you my conversations in tomorrow morning's report. Also... 'both Savannah Pest Control' and I will be available for interviews with the players throughout the year... let me know which ones you want me to talk to and what questions you'd like asked.

= Welcome to AA Binghamton!!!! can't wait to start this journey with a great
group of guys.
Nothing official
yet, but here’s what I got for the Las Vegas pitching staff:
Rotation
- Zack Wheeler, Adam Laffey, Carlos Torres, Chris
Schwinden, Collin McHugh
Pen - Armando Rodriguez, Robert Carson, Dylan Owen, Greg Peavey,
Justin Hampson, Gonzalez Germen

Wow, for all we keep reading about the Mets' pitching prowess in the minors, they have exactly one prospect in the rotation. I didn't even know Schwinden was back among the living, let alone on the roster. He was the Jeremy Hefner/Collin McHugh of his day. I'm assuming Laffey is the next man up.
Is Carson going to be the closer?
we're going to have to wait until the first closing situation to figure that out
I think when marcum comes back, Familia goes to Vegas to be the closer, which makes the most sense to me. No sense in having him here for mop up duty when you can challenge him at AAA in high leverage situations to see how he responds and determine if he has a shot at being a late game, power pitcher at the ML level.
