Michael Morales
RHP 6-2 200 East Pennsboro Area HS (PA)

Michael Morales is a 2021 RHP/1B with a 6-2 200 lb. frame from Enola, PA who attends East Pennsboro Area. Strong athletic build, has begun to fill in nicely. Full low tension arm action, stays tall on his back side and gets good extension out front, 3/4's arm slot, good direction to the plate, step by step mechanics that hold together well and project. Fastball topped out at 93 mph, mostly straight with occasional running life. Shows good shape and depth on his curveball, developing change up. Next step will be learning additional movement and deception as the arm is very clean and strong

Buzz: Michael Morales has faced off against Montgomery plenty of times on the mound. In 2021, they’ll be battling it out for who is the highest drafted player in the state. Morales, a Vanderbilt commit, has been viewed by some as the top player in Pennsylvania and a future first-round selection in the draft. He throws an easy mid-90s fastball with an array of off-speed pitches in the 80s that already look to be ready for pro ball. Scouts have also praised the way in which he commands the zone with his arsenal at a young age. The Commodores have been no stranger to prying top prospects away from the MLB before. Kumar Rocker was viewed as one of the top high-school arms in the country before going to Vanderbilt, and now he’s the early favorite to go first overall in 2021. It would not be surprising to see Morales gain some experience under Tim Corbin and company, but there will no doubt be a list of MLB teams that try to draft him first.

Michael Morales, RHP, East Pennsboro Area HS (Pa.) -- Committed to Vanderbilt, Morales showed a lot of starting pitcher qualities in his one no-hit inning. He struck out two with a 90-94 fastball, a mid-80s changeup and a 79-80 mph slurvy curveball. His arm works well and he throws a lot of strikes without a lot of effort.
