There are stronger players and there are faster players, but Lile has one of the simplest and most efficient line-drive swings around, and he's hit against most everyone he's faced.

This pick just seems to make complete sense. Some could say a reach, but Lile possesses the best bat-to-ball skills in the class, and could be a true centerfielder at the next level. A very compact LH swing that shows the ability to spray the ball to all fields with ease, and should tap into some power at the next level too. A physical frame at 6-foot, 195 pound frame, Lile moves very well and will run down balls in the gaps thanks to advanced route running ability and instincts in the field. It may be a fringy arm, but that shouldn't hurt him too much, especially in center field and in a modern-game that takes pressure off centerfield thanks to shifts. Tampa Bay gets one of the highest floor preps in the class, a treat for a player development system who's proven time and time again the ability to optimize whatever clay you throw their way.

The top high school player in Kentucky, Lile has proven himself to be one of the best pure hitters in the 2021 class. While he isn’t overly physical or super projectable at 6-foot-1, 185 pounds, Lile is a consistent performer with a simple, direct and quick bat from the left side. There’s very little pre-pitch movement in Lile’s setup at the plate, with few moving parts in his load or stride to contact, and his hands are quick enough to consistently allow him to drive velocity and quality offspeed offerings. He has a sound approach in the box and has the ability to use the entire field. It’s not a leveraged swing with massive power—more of a line-drive oriented path—but scouts do see some potential pop to the pull side, as Lile has some room for more strength in the future despite a compact present frame. The Louisville commit has below-average arm strength now and more solid tools across the board outside of his hit tool. Because of that, some scouts think he profiles best in left field long term, which will put more pressure on his bat to produce, but he’s shown enough this summer to make many think Lile is solidly a first-rounder.

Lile is a 6-foot-1, 195-pound left-handed hitter who has a mature approach at the plate. He has a quiet set up and uses a quick and compact swing that allows him to drive the ball to all fields. He has displayed solid plate discipline and thrived against premium high school pitching.

 

Lile is more of a gap-to-gap hitter currently but should add more power as he matures. Lile also is a solid athlete and displays his speed and athleticism in all facets of the game.

 

The one skill holding Lile back from being a five-tool player is his arm strength. He has below-average arm strength and currently profiles as a future left fielder. Lile is comfortable playing all three outfield positions and hopes to remain at his current center field position long-term.

Maybe the best pure hit tool of the prep class. Polished bat first player with a knack for finding the barrel, Lile has shown more power early this showcase circuit, but it's still an area of his game he needs to tap into to maximize his profile. A corner outfielder long term Lile has shown above average speed, but his below average arm might move him to left permanently.

Lile was one of the first players mentioned among scouts after Wood. The 6-foot, 195-pound outfielder doesn’t have the projectable frame that Wood has, but his bat might be special enough to the point that some scouts think of him as a first-rounder because of it.

 

He’s shown a special hit tool in previous events, and that continued to be the case at the UBC. Lile has some athleticism and good bat speed, with more power to his pull-side than the opposite field right now, but with some strength in his compact frame.

 

His supplemental tools leave something to be desired at the moment, and scouts think he profiles best in left field at the moment thanks to a fringy arm, which will put more pressure on his bat moving forward. But the bat is loud.

Louisville commit since before freshman year. Ranked No. 41 in the PBR overall rankings including the No. 6 OF nationally. HIgh-level left handed bat hits for average and power. Hit no-doubt HR to RF in last year's PBR Kentucky/Tennessee Challenge. Premium bat speed. Put up big numbers for Trinity last season against one of the top schedules in the state. .518 with 17 doubles, 5 triples, 3 HR and just 5 K's in 112 AB's. Continues to make strides in speed and arm strength. Onr of the top left-handed bats in the country.

Daylen Lile is a 2021 OF/MIF with a 6-0 195 lb. frame from Louisville, KY who attends Trinity. Strong athletic build. Left handed hitter, starts slightly open with a good close to contact, has very quick hands with explosiveness at the ball, pure hitter's hands that drive his swing, outstanding barrel to ball skills, gets carry to all fields. 6.70 runner, compact arm action on his throws, makes accurate throws. Bat is his tool and it's one of the better ones in the class.

Daylen Lyle – OF: I’ve said for a few months now I truly believe Lyle has the absolute best Hit Tool (60) in the Prep class. His pure hitability is unmatched consistently against the better pitching in the class. He shows plus bat speed to pair with hands and bat control he shows a knack for barreling up balls more consistently than most in the class. Likely a 15 HR guy at his peak, and profiling as a strong Lead-off talent with his ability to find his way on base at a high rate. A corner OF profile as he ages. I see a similar player, although not a leadoff hitters, David Peralta and Michael Brantley, and he may have a tick more speed then each of them.

Daylen Lile - One of the best contact hitters in the prep class, Lile didn’t do anything particularly loud at the AAC. That said it’s been a particularly strong summer for the Louisville commit making the tournament team at Area Code. He had his usual strong round of BP on Thursday, displaying his simple, clean, and balanced stroke. The highlight of his weekend was a great play he made in Thursday’s scrimmage to rob Braden Montgomery of a hit. He tested well in the Diamond Kinetics numbers as well, showing good barrel speed, impact momentum, and max acceleration.
