LAST GAME:
Binghamton’s season-long five-game losing
streak came to an end yesterday in a gutty 5-4 11-inning win
over New Britain, which had won eight in a row. Jose Sanchez
output his best start of the season fro the B-Mets, lasting
eight innings giving up two runs on eight hits with six strikeouts.
It was the longest outing for a Binghamton pitcher to
date. Down 2-0, the B-Mets took advantage of a Toby Gardenhire
error to start the inning and a walk issued to pinch-hitter
Josh Thole to get the innings underway. After Carl Loadenthal
bunted the runners up to second and third, Ruben Tejada
drove a single to right to score D.J. Wabick and then a fielder’s
choice to first scored Thole to tie the score at two apiece. The
Rock Cats answered with two runs in the 10th off Roy Merrit,
but Binghamton came back with two of their own in the bottom
of the frame thanks to doubles from Nick Evans and
Lucas Duda. Finally, in the 11th, Zach Ward issued a basesloaded
walk to pinch-hitter Josh Petersen to give the B-Mets
the win.

year old righty was the 22nd overall pick in the 2007 draft.
COMEBACK KIDS:
Three of the B-Mets last four wins have
come in their final at-bat. Yesterday was no different, as Binghamton
broke a five-game losing stretch with a walk-off 5-4
win thanks to a bases-loaded walk drawn by pinch-hitter Josh
Petersen. The B-Mets have played quite a few close games
this season leading to five wins in the final at-bat for their
opponents and for Binghamton.
