The Buffalo Bisons, Triple-A affiliate of the New York Mets, won three in a row for the first time this season, beating the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs 8-7 Monday.
The Bisons had opportunities in their first two at bats, putting two runners on in each inning, but could not plate anybody. Meanwhile, the Pigs scored in two of their first three at-bats. Lehigh Valley took a 1-0 lead in the first when Pablo Ozuna singled, stole second and then scored on an Andy Tracy double to right. It became a 4-0 lead in the third when Jason Ellison and Ozuna reached with two outs. Tracy came through again with a three-run homer to right.
The Herd came storming back in the fourth inning, sending 10 batters to the plate and scoring five times to take the lead. Wily Mo Pena began by singling up the left side. That was followed by a Mike Lamb single and a Jason Cooper walk. Robinson Cancel made it four in a row to reach when he singled and plated Pena.
With one run already in, Michel Abreu stepped in to pinch hit for the pitcher, Dillon Gee. The hulking righty singled himself to score Lamb, Argenis Reyes then grounded out to put across Cooper before Sullivan singled in Cancel. All that action equalized the score at four. The tie only lasted two batters though, as Javier Valentin singled to left to score Abreu. The Bisons held a 5-4 advantage.
