Remember This Name: Aroldis Chapman

Remember This Name: Aroldis Chapman

You are going to get so sick hearing about this dude over the next six months.

This is the Cuban defector that will surpass the contract signed by Dice-K when he arrived from Japan.

Simply put, he’s a left-handed Steven Strasburg. Yeah, and you can bet even money who will wind up representing him.

Cuba travelled to a tournament in the Netherlands (after all the defections over the years, why does this team still travel?), he walks out of his hotel room, and, bingo, he’s gone.

He’s under 25-years old and hits the radar gun consistently at 102. Oh, he’s erratic. Poor baby.
Estimates at this point is he can command a $30mil contract, and we all know only so many teams in this economy can afford that.

Chapman’s WBC stats weren’t impressive: 0-1, 5.68 in two starts, 8-K, 4-BB, 6.1-IP. He was lights out recently in a tournament in Mexico.

Look for Chapman to establish residency in the D.R., then have lunch with Scott Boras.
