LAST GAME:
For the second straight day, the B-Mets found
themselves in an early 9-0 hole. Erie put up a nine-run third
inning on starter Jake Ruckle, from which Binghamton never
fully recovered in its 9-6 loss at Jerry Uht Park Saturday night.
In a scoreless game, Ruckle gave up a two-run triple to Brennan
Boesch, a three-run homer to Casper Wells and a grand
slam to Andy Dirks to spot the SeaWolves a nine-run lead.
Ruckle departed after 2.2 innings and would eventually be
labeled the losing pitcher. The B-Mets began to claw back in
the fourth inning when Ike Davis and Lucas Duda went yard
back-to-back off Erie starter Luis Marte. It was the first time
that Binghamton had knocked successive homers in 2009. In
the seventh frame, the B-Mets loaded the bases with nobody
out against reliever Ramon Garcia, but managed just one run
on a double-play groundout from Josh Thole. Then in the
ninth, Binghamton rallied for three runs and brought Caleb
Stewart to the plate representing the tying run, before Cody
Satterwhite closed it out by inducing a foul out from Stewart.
Garcia notched the win with 3.1 innings of relief and Satterwhite
was credited with his 12th save for securing the win.
