Minor Thoughts - Wed. Morning, 3 a.m.

1. OF/3B Josh Peterson has been transferred from Binghamton to Buffalo, to fill the slot opened when the Mets called OF Cory Sullivan to Queens. In addition, OF Emil Brown was released by Buffalo. I’d like to think that this might be the first step to rid the system of the AAAA players that Omar loves to fill Buffalo with, but it’s too early to see. A good sign will be when Sullivan has to be DFA’d to get back to Buffalo, and, after no one picks him up, will the Mets start paying him again.

2. Adam Rubin/NYN reported that SP John Maine through 65 pitches in a simulated (not stimulated) game on Tuesday. Indications are all things went well, and all reporters that handle the Mets minor league teams are holding their breath and lighting a candle that Maine will rehab there.

3. The Mets blog world got one wrong this week. A bunch of us wrote that P Mitch Houck was released by the team. Well, guess what? He’s throwing bullpen sessions in St. Lucie, waiting for assignment. Sort of my bad, but I’ll take the heat rather then dump on the source I got it from.

4. Great debut for LF Josh Petersen at AAA: 2-4, 2-doubles.. .500. Another testy outing for SP Tobi Stoner: 6.0-IP, 4-ER, 6-K, 1-BB, 5.13… frankly, he seems to be having a tough time at this level, but I’m sure he’ll turn it around. The kid has talent. More bad news was that RP Adam Bostick actually gave up a run… 2.0-IP, 1-ER, 1-HR… ERA “soars” to 1.06.

5. SS Richie Havens… err… Reese Havens came back in the lineup tonight, went 1-3, and raised his number one draft pick BA to .230…

6. SP Sal Aguilar had another good rehab outing, throwing three innings for the GCL Mets, giving up only one earned run, while striking out three. Rehab ERA now 1.50.

7. Prospect OF Javier Rodriquez woke up today for GCL… 3-4, 2-R, 4-RBI, 1-2B… BA: .200. Don’t worry. It will get bigger.

8. C Juan Torres, who hit well at GCL but had no place to play, what with Nefli Zapata playing there, was recently bumped up to Kingsport and is off to a great start: 4-4 today, 1-R, 1-triple, 1-RBI… BA (7-14): .500
