Tonight, the Buffalo Bisons face the Indianapolis Indians in the first game of a four-game set from Victory Field (7:05 p.m.). The Herd is looking to bounce back from a 1-3 series loss against Louisville to begin this eight-game roadtrip. After the series against Indianapolis, the Bisons return home for a four-game series against Pawtucket, July 28-31. vs.
THE INDIANS:
The Bisons are 1-3 against Indianapolis this year after a four-game series in Buffalo, June 6-9. The two teams split the season-series a year ago, 4-4 (each team going 2-2 at home). Buffalo has a .538 winning percentage (49-42) against Indianapolis since returning to the IL in 1998.
NIESE TO HAVE YOU:
LHP Jonathon Niese takes the mound for Buffalo in tonight’s game in Indianapolis. The southpaw has won 5 consecutive decisions. In this streak he has an impressive 0.72ERA while only allowing four earned runs, with 42 strikeouts and 12 walks in 50.1 innings of work.
GETTIN’ FIGGY WIT’ IT:
RHP Nelson Figueroa had another solid start for the Herd last night despite getting a loss in Louisville. The righty collected his ninth consecutive quality start with three runs allowed, five strikeouts, and no walks in seven innings of work. The veteran has the third-best ERA (2.42) in the IL behind only Carlos Torres (2.20) of Charlotte and Clay Buchholz (2.36) of Pawtucket. Figueroa also has an impressive 85 strikeouts to only 23 walks in 104 innings of work on the season.
KEEPING A HOT BAT:
OF Jesus Feliciano has been the best hitter for the Herd all season long. The Bisons slugger has a .327 batting average (34-104) with eight doubles as well as 12RBI in his last 26 games. Feliciano is ninth in the IL in hitting (.308) and fourth in total hits (99). The outfielder also leads the Bisons with 36RBI this year.
NO HITZ SWITZ:
LHP Jon Switzer has been one of the Bisons most consistent relievers this season. The southpaw finished the game for the Bisons with a solid eighth inning consisting of a strikeout and no hits or walks allowed. Switzer has a 2.88ERA with 36 strikeouts to only 11 walks on the season.
