1. The GCL Mets game was suspended after three innings, with the Mets leading, 1-0. Hopefully, the suspension was weather related.
2. There was a post today on http://www.nyfuturestars.com/ that the Bluejays would have traded Roy Halladay for Jon Niese, Fernando Martinez, Bobby Parnell, and Ruben Tejada. This supposedly came from Mets writer Jon Heyman and I guess we’re to believe that the Mets turned this down. Let’s see… a AAA pitcher who just got his ERA down to around 4, an injury-prone minor leaguer, a middle reliever, and a minor league shortstop who isn’t the Mets top minor league shortstop… for the best pitcher in friggin baseball… what you talkin’ about Willis?
3. 3B James Schroeder has come off the DL and was assigned to Kingsport. He was a 33rd round draft pick this year, that had one at bat for Brooklyn, got hit by a pitch, went on the DL and who’s stat line is… ready for this one… .000/1.000/.000/.000. Ga-head… find that somewhere else…
4. I thought it was interesting that OF Cory Sullivan was called up instead of Nick Evans. You would think that Evans could use all the MLB exposure he culd get this year, rather than someone who really has no future in Queens.
5. The SL Mets beat the Dodgers, 8-5. 1B Alexander Sanchez (.398) went 4-5, 3-R, 1-HR, 2-RBI (send him a visa and a one way to Queens…). 3B Daniel De Leon went 4-4.
6. Mets COO Jeff Wilpon gave both Omar Minaya and Jerry Manuel a “vote of confidence” today… let’s see… May 27, 2008… he gave the same to Willie Randolph… or what about June 9, 1999… he gave one to Bobby Valentine.
7. SP Jake Ruckle had another rough outing tonight at Binghamton… 5.0-IP, 5-ER, 1-K, 2-BB, 4.64-ERA… normally, I would say he might be on the way to the bullpen, but he still has the lowest ERA in the rotation.
8. And SP Brandon Moore also had another bad outing for Brooklyn. Errors led to four unearned runs and his stats finished up at: 4.0-IP, 6-R, 2-ER, 2-K, 1-BB, 1.32 for the season.
9. Savannah’s SP Jeurys Familia, ranked 4th potential Mets future SP (1. Niese, 2. Holt, 3. Mejia, 4. Familia, 5. Carson), did have a great night… 8.0-IP, 0-ER, 11-K
