Jeurys Familia pitched seven innings, striking out 11, walking 3, giving up three hits and no runs allowed. The nineteen year old,won his 8th game of the year which leads the fine Gnat pitching staff with most wins.
In the first inning, nineteen year old Hickory pitcher, Wilmer Font, was throwing fastballs at 93, 94, 95, 96, but he momentary lost control and the Gnats were able to score three runs.
Sand Gnats continued their hot hitting:Marte had three singles, Satin a single and double, Abruzzo a single and double. Gronauer hit a two run home run in the 8th. In the 7th inning, Flores hit an inside the park home run-the ball was hit to deep center field and actually hit the center-fielder in the head.
The Gnats won three out of the four games with the Hickory Crawdads.
