LAST GAME: The B-Mets ended a four-game slide with a breakout, 18-hit game to overpower Richmond 11-2 at The Diamond Wednesday night. The hit total set a new season best. The run-scoring was plenty for Josh Stinson, who tied a career-best with seven, strong innings for his fourth win. Stinson allowed just two runs on five hits for his fourth win. Every member of the starting lineup, including the pitcher, managed a hit. Josh Satin led the way with three hits, including the game-winner, a two-run triple in the sixth. Sean Ratliff also managed three hits. Eric Campbell got Binghamton on the board in the fourth inning with a two-run homer off Flying Squirrels’ starter Mike MacDonald, his third of the year. MacDonald was charged for four runs on 10 hits over five-plus innings to take the loss.

STARTING PITCHING MATCHUP: LHP Eric Niesen is due for his ninth start of the season tonight. He is coming of his shortest outing of the season, an 1.1 innings effort at Trenton June 11, in which he allowed three runs on two hits and walked four. On the year, the southpaw is 1-3 with a 3.49 ERA over 28.1 innings. He spent a month on the disabled list with a concussion April 26-May 26. The southpaw led all Mets minor leaguers with 134 strikeouts in 2009. He was the Mets’ third-round choice in 2007 out of Wake Forest and is considered the No.  14 prospect in the Mets farm system by Baseball America.

RHP Felix Romero will counter for the Flying Squirrels in a spot -start, his second of the season. He made his first start June 12 at Reading and gave Richmond four innings of three-run work. He allowed a season-high six hits and struck out three in the no-decision. Romero is 0-0 with a 5.40 ERA over 12 appearances with the Flying Squirrels, spanning 23.1 innings. The righty opened the season in Fresno (AAA) and struggled to the tune of a 6.52 ERA over seven outings (9.2 IP). In 2009, he made 50 appearances for Fresno and carried a 5-5 mark and a 4.28 ERA over 73.2 innings. San Francisco signed the Dominican-born hurler Dec. 18, 2008 as a free agent.
