5-28 from: - http://www.onlineathens.com/stories/052909/bas_444830521.shtml - While junior Jeff Walters was in the middle of talking about his new role as a starting pitcher for the Bulldogs before practice, he received a not-so-subtle reminder of the new expectations he faced. Following back-to-back losses to LSU, ousting Georgia from the SEC Tournament, Perno decided to move Walters from reliever to one of the top three starters in place of Alex McRee. He will move to the bullpen as Georgia starts its postseason run today in the Tallahassee Regional against Ohio State at noon in Tallahassee, Fla. Walters, a 30th-round pick by the Cleveland Indians in the 2008 MLB Draft, was a starter at St. Petersburg College, where he spent his freshman and sophomore year. Like any player moving from one position to another, Walters knows there will be a few adjustments to make as a starter. The main objective, however, remains the same. Walters has a 2-0 record this season with a save and a 4.14 ERA. In 41 and 1/3 innings, he has struck out 44 batters and walked 23. He started Georgia's second game against LSU in the SEC Tournament, a 3-2 loss, going three innings, giving up one earned run, four hits and two walks while striking out two.
