9/9/13

Reinforcements are on the waaaaa....well, maybe not.

September is usually the time in Baseball when teams out of the playoff race call up all the prospects, and get a look at what they got in the upper levels of the system. Only, for the often-injured New York Mets, there's really nobody left. Sooooooo, bring on the recycled leftovers.
I'm wondering if anyone is looking forward to watching Baxter pinch hit, Greg Burke do.....whatever......and Aaron Harang can fight with Dice-K to scratch and claw a way into the 2014 Mets rotation, so we can all forget about Harvey (oh boy).
So its time to simply see what we have (left). Coaches are currently raving about d'Arnoud's play outside of the hitters box. Flores, who was already slow, now apparently has ongoing ankle issues. Meanwhile, Daniel Murphy is on fire again. He apparently doesn't feel like giving up 2B to anyone. Gee keeps pitching like a legit SP3 all of a sudden.
At this point, let's give the Mets players credit for playing hard. Heck, even us fans are hoping they lose their way into a top 10 pick so they won't lose it if they sign a free agent. The team (and its fans) are now going through the motions. It's been a season of waiting. Waiting for the spark to sustain. Waiting for Harvey to not get a no decision. Waiting to see which starter will go down next. Maybe everybody should be on an innings limit at this point.
Instead of a 6 man rotation, maybe the Mets should implement an old school Colorado Rockies theory of playing everyone to a 75 pitch count and throw out the relievers every night. I guess this is another one of my venting posts, which I actually haven't done in awhile. Maybe I'm not sure what to write about anymore with this team. Vic Black is pitching. That's good, right? Niese appears to be healthy. And David Wright is still on the team for the next 7 years.
Well, here are my 2 cents. For the remainder of the season:
Start Duda every day, if not for us, then for somebody else to trade for.
When Tejada comes back, play him every day.
If flores is somewhat healthy, play him.
Have Vic Black close out all remaining games.
Hope the New York Giants stop turning the ball over (sorry, wrong sport.....thinking football)
Well, At least the Savannah Sand Gnats are in the championship. And, in about 5 years, at least one of them might be playing at Citi Field.
Let's think outside the box. Maybe the Mets should call up Dustin Lawley. Sure, he played at A ball all year, but he did get about a week of experience playing in Vegas.
My new suggestion. Play Turner in the cleanup spot. He's a home run King now.
Ok, I'll stop. Go Mets. We still have Wheeler to root for each and every 5 days (until he's shut down). And...........We have Frank Francisco back !!!!!! Isn't that great? Thank you all for coming out, God bless you and goodnight.
