September 21st - Mets 5, Phillies 4
Saturday night in Philadelphia, The Mets got homers by David Wright and Daniel Murphy before the rains came….and Dillon Gee earned his 12th win. The Mets beat the Phillies 5-4 in a rain shortened affair. The Phils got off to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the 2nd on a sac fly by Cody Asche. The Mets tied it in the 4th on a David Wright homer. His second in the past two games since coming off the DL and his 18th on the year. In the 6th the Mets took a commanding 5-1 lead. Daniel Murphy clubbed a 2 run homer. His 12th tieing his career high. Juan lagares followed this a 2 run triple to dead center and Travis d’Arnaud hit an rbi double to cap the rally. In the bottom of the 6th, the Phillies scored 3 times to make is a 1 run game. As the rain continued to fall Jimmy Rollins nailed a rbi double. Carlos Ruiz drove in a run on a ground out to 3rd and the last run scored on a wild pitch by Gee. David Wright walked with one out in the top of the 7th when the steady rain turned to a downpour and out came the tarp and the game never resumed. The Met tallied 7 hits on the night. Wright and d’Arnaud each had 2 apiece. Gee went the whole way, going 6 innings, allowing 7 hits, 4 runs (all earned) he walked none and struck out 3. Gee now stands at 12-10. Tyler Cloyd takes the loss for the Phils he’s now 2-6. With the win the Mets improve to 70-84 on the season and 38-39 on the road. Sunday afternoon the Mets look for the sweep. Carlos Torres (3-5 3.39) goes for the Mets, Cliff Lee (14-9 2.95) goes for Philadelphia. https://www.facebook.com/MetsForum
