- Carlos Rodon
1-7-13 - Behold, Carlos Rodon, ace of the North Carolina State pitching staff.
Rodon, a 6-foot-2 left hander, took the college baseball world by storm as a true freshman in 2012 with his 9-0 record, 1.57 ERA, 135/41 strikeout to walk ratio and 71 hits allowed in 114 2/3 innings. The unfortunately-not-a-draft-eligible sophomore was a 16th round pick of the Brewers in 2011. At that time, he was around 30 pounds lighter, weighing around 200, and threw between 88-92 MPH with his fastball. He was coveted for his projectability and potential plus slider, but decided to attend college and it is clear now that he made the right call. http://www.crawfishboxes.com/2013/1/7/3846162/carlos-rodon-prize-of-the-2014-draft
5-23-13 - Carlos Rodon, LHP, North Carolina State - The 6’-3”, 235-pound southpaw, who is about a clear-cut number-one overall pick as there is, didn’t start the season on a high note. In the season opener against Appalachian State, he gave up five runs over six innings in a 6-3 loss. He did, however, strikeout eight to just one walk, so it wasn’t all that bad. His last two starts have been something out of a video game. Over 14 innings, he has allowed one run on just two hits, including seven no-hit innings against LaSalle in which Karl Keglovits finished off the no-no with two hitless frames. Over those 14 innings, Rodon has struck out an incredible 30 batters to just three walks, pushing his season totals to 38 K/ 5 BB over 20 innings (17.1 K/9). He has a five- pitch arsenal that includes a mid-90s heater, a power slider, a lethal cutter, an above-average curveball and a change-up with nice fade. He commands all of them and is comfortable throwing any of them in any situation LINK
6-2-13 - Carlos Rodon has spent much of his sophomore year searching for the form that made him one of the best pitchers in the nation as a freshman. He’s found it when it matters most. Rodon pitched on Saturday like the country has come to expect, firing a two-hit shutout Saturday against William & Mary in the winners’ bracket game at the Raleigh Regional. North Carolina State needed every bit of Rodon’s dominance too, emerging with a 1-0 win against a tough Tribe squad as Rodon and his opposite number, John Farrell, traded zeroes deep into the night. http://www.baseballamerica.com/college/rodon/
6-9-13 - 1.Carlos Rodon, LHP (NC State): You could have make an argument for Rodon going 1:1 this year. His stuff, K rate, polish, and mechanics all point to him being a strong 1 or 2 starter. http://www.minorleaguerundown.com/2013/06/09/2014-mlb-draft-top-30-prospects/
6-10-13 - Carlos Rodon, LHP, North Carolina State - Rodon begins the summer as the favorite to go first overall in the 2014 draft. When he is on, he is the most dominant pitcher in college baseball. His fastball sits 92-95 and his slider is a plus plus pitch. His curve, change, and cutter are also quality pitches. http://bigleaguefutures.net/1/2013/06/10/2014-mlb-draft-early-college-names-to-know/
6-11-13 - 1. Carlos Rodon, LHP, North Carolina State: The Wolfpack are headed to the College World Series and Rodon is a big reason why. Even after starting slowly, the big lefty has gone 9-2 with a 3.19 ERA and 170 strikeouts in 118 1/3 innings. There is almost universal consensus that he's the early choice to be No. 1 in 2014. http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20130611&content_id=50293726&vkey=news_mlb&c_id=mlb&tcid=tw_article_50293726
6-13-13 - 2. Houston Astros — Carlos Rodon, LHP, North Carolina State - Rodon has pretty much everything you want in an ace. At 6’-2” and 230 pounds, the southpaw definitely has the size to carry the workload and his legs look like tree trunks. He has a five-pitch arsenal that includes a mid-90s heater, a power slider, a lethal cutter, an above-average curveball and a change-up with nice fade. He commands all of them well and is comfortable throwing any of them in any situation. Over 16 starts so far this year, he has a 3.19 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 161 K/40 BB over 110 innings. Opponents are hitting just .190 against him. His junior season should be full of ridiculousness. The only knock I have heard on him is his size and if he will be able to maintain that kind of velocity for the long haul. He also tends to get into control issues at times. http://beforeitsnews.com/sports/2013/06/2014-mlb-mock-draft-1-0-no-time-like-the-present-2513748.html?currentSplittedPage=2
6-17-13 - Carlos Rodon, LHP, N.C. State - Last year Rodon (6-foot-3, 234) became the first Division I freshman to be finalist for the Golden Spikes Award as college baseball's best player. This year, he is the ace of a Wolfpack team that has advanced to the College World Series. He is a coveted power lefty whose fastball sits in the mid-90s and can reach the upper 90s. He has two obviously plus pitches "His fastball can be overwhelming and dominant," Simpson said, "and he has a wipeout slider." http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/mlb/news/20130610/draft-prospects-carlos-rodon/#ixzz2WWk0FqzU
6-18-13 - Jordan Sams @astrosjordan - Carlos Rodon is going be so good. I can't believe he's coming out the year the Astros won't have 1-1.
6-19-13 - from Don Olson on 6/18/2013 - Stout wide frame, impressive present strength and build, think maturation and power potential TORL. FB was 90-94 mph (95), cruising speed is never an issue. 4S was solid 92-95 mph, nice backspin with arm slot tails away from RHH. Works both sides of the plate, attacks the inside, and changes eye levels constantly with the offering, all natural late subtle movement. Command is average, think it can improve with his ability, losses it a little too much low, point of improvement. He hides the ball well and can get hitters to stretch the zone. 2S 90-91 mph (92) with a good amount of hand side tail that is hard, showed good command, hits it consistently L/O. Cutter/Baby Slider was tight with good bite, more horizontal than vertical tilt at 89-91, safe plus grade with room to grow, effective action to both sides hitters, shows action that forces swings. Curve has good shape, a lot of spin with late drop action, but not a heavy rotation offering at any view this spring. He shows a projectable change, showed good arm action and potentially highly deceptive, but it is a work in progress, point to monitor in the future.
6-28-13 - Carlos Rodon, LHP, N.C. State - Not only is there no better player in the 2014 draft than Carlos Rodon, he'll be the best pitching prospect drafted since Stephen Strasburg was picked in 2008. A 6'2'' lefty, Rodon sits in the mid-90s with his fastball and throws a sinker that's already a plus pitch. He also throws a low 90s cutter and a few more pitches, ranging from a curve, changeup and splitter. They're all behind the others, and he'll most likely choose one and scrap the others when he reaches pro ball. He has an easy throwing motion from the left side that generates easy velocity, and scouts really like his mechanics. Though a team like the Marlins could opt to take one of the elite high school bats if they get the #1 pick next year, there's no reason at this point why Rodon is not deserving of the #1 overall pick http://www.crawfishboxes.com/2013/6/28/4450674/the-way-too-early-2014-tcb-astros-draft-board
7-6-13 - Ben Badler @BenBadler - Carlos Rodon looks like he would dominate a Double-A lineup today. And that's being conservative.
7-23-13 - John Manuel @johnmanuelba - Standing O for Carlos Rodon well deserved. He finishes the night with 11 SO in 6.2 IP, 0 BB, 21 SO in 17 IP for the summer with Team USA vs. Cuba
8-5-14 - Who are the top five lefthanded pitching prospects in baseball, with ceiling as the primary consideration? (question from Jim Kubinski) – answer from Jim Callis - The best lefty prospect in baseball isn’t a professional yet. North Carolina State’s Carlos Rodon is the favorite to go No. 1 overall draft, and he looked spectacular in his final Team USA outing of the summer. http://ht.ly/nEhSu
8-14-13 – Through The Fence – Top 50 Prospects – 1. Carlos Rodon, LHP, NC State - The prize of the draft, the 6’-3” southpaw continued to demonstrate his silly array of abilities against the rest of the world after posting a 2.99 ERA, 1.05 WHIP with 184 K/45 BB over 132.1 innings for the Wolfpack this year. Pitching for The Collegiate National Team, he went 3-0 with 21 K/4 BB over 17 shutout innings, allowing just five hits. He has a five-pitch arsenal that includes a mid-90s heater, a power slider, a lethal cutter, an above-average curveball and a change-up with nice fade. He commands all of them well and is comfortable throwing any of them in any situation. There may not be much projection left but what more do you want? http://throughthefencebaseball.com/2014-mlb-draft-top-50-prospects/36463#mwWwsFxSUZy7YC5V.99
8-30-13 – Top 5 MLB Draft Prospects - #1. Carlos Rodon, LHP (NC State): You may possibly have prepared a plight for Rodon going 1:1 this year. His junk, K rate, refinement, and mechanics all point to him being a durable 1 or 2 starter. Rodon, a 6-foot-3, 234-pound sophomore, maintains an 18-2 record and a 2.39 ERA as a N.C. State pitcher. His 9-2 record displays the potential of certain Major League aptitude. Trusting on a mix of mid-90s fastballs, power sliders, cutters, curveballs and changeups, Rodon is so prevailing that he could be the No. 1 pick in the 2014 draft. http://bigleaguefutures.net/1/2013/08/30/top-5-mlb-draft-prospects/
8-27-13 - 1. Carlos Rodon, LHP, North Carolina State (Draft eligible: 2014) - The exceptional 6-foot-3, 234-pound, junior left-handed pitcher has had quite a whirlwind past few months. Rodon entered his sophomore campaign with the Wolfpack with high hopes in the spring, but it took him a while to get going, as evidenced by some early command issues. Rodon only got better as the spring progressed, pitching exceptionally well down the stretch and in the College World Series with a fastball anywhere from 93-97 in Omaha. Well, Rodon only continued his impressive ways this summer while pitching for the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team. Rodon didn’t allow a run in four starts and 17 innings of work, while also striking out 21 and walking four. From a prospect standpoint, Rodon is the clear-cut favorite to be the top pick in the 2014 MLB draft. In addition to having a durable frame, Rodon possesses a hard-nosed, come at you type of attitude, along with elite stuff. He pitched off his fastball quite a bit this summer, a pitch that has some late, exploding life on it at times. Rodon also utilized an 85-87 slider with two-plane break, while that pitch also was up to 89 at times. Last but not least, Rodon used a low-80s changeup, a pitch that many would like him to use more in the latter innings come spring. Overall, Rodon’s near impeccable fastball command reminded some close to USA Baseball to former Vanderbilt start left-handed pitcher David Price, while he showed much more confidence in his slider as the summer progressed. Rodon’s freshman campaign in 2012 convinced many of us that he was clearly the top prospect in the 2014 MLB draft college class. Then, we had a second thought when he started slow out of the gate for the Wolfpack in the spring. But now, after such a dominance performance with Team USA, the gritty and durable lefty is right back where he started his collegiate career. http://www.perfectgame.org/Articles/View.aspx?article=8927
9-1-13 - Jim Callis – 1. Carlos Rodon, lhp, North Carolina State - Spectacular summer with Team USA cements him as clear top prospect for now.
9-4-13 – Mack’s Mock Draft v1.0 – 1 – Houston – LHSP Carlos Rodon – North Carolina State – This might be the last year that the Astros gets the first pick in the draft, though it is the third in the row. It’s close to impossible… no, I take that back… it’s literally impossible for them to pass on picking Rodon, who is so far more taleted than anyone in this draft. He has a five- pitch arsenal that includes a mid-90s fastball, a wipeout slider, a lethal cutter, an above-average curveball and a change-up with nice fade. He could be in the majors by late 2015.
2. Dave Peterson
6-9-13 - 23.David Peterson, LHP (Colorado HS): Probably the best lefty available in the high school ranks. At 6’7″, 210 lbs. with a fastball just touching 90 mph, he still has plenty of room for projection. http://www.minorleaguerundown.com/2013/06/09/2014-mlb-draft-top-30-prospects/
7-2-13 - 88. David Peterson- LHP, Regis Jesuit (CO) HS http://www.ninebaseball.org/Wordpress/jeff-sullivans-top-100-2014-prospects/
7-24-13 - David Peterson, lhp, Regis Jesuit, Denver/FTB - Colorado has a strong lineage of big, projectable high school pitchers and Peterson is next in line. With broad shoulders and long arms and legs, the 6-foot-6, 215-pound Oregon commit fits the description. Peterson has an easy delivery and hides the ball well from a tick below three-quarter arm slot. His velocity sat in the upper-80s and touched 91 mph with above-average movement. Both his mid-70s curveball and 78-79 mph changeup are in the developmental stages but show promise. http://www.baseballamerica.com/draft/tyler-koleks-heavy-fastball-among-tournament-of-stars-standouts/
8-14-13 - Regis Jesuit senior left-handed pitcher David Peterson tossed a scoreless inning for the West in its 8-6 victory over the East in the 2013 Perfect Game All-American Classic Aug. 11 at Petco Park, home of the San Diego Padres. Regis Jesuit’s David Peterson, a member of the 2013 Aurora Sentinel All-City Baseball Team poses, June 17, 2013, at Regis Jesuit High School. (Marla R. Keown/Aurora Sentinel)+ Peterson — who reached as high as 92 mph on the radar gun — finished a perfect inning with a strikeout to help the West win the showcase game featuring 51 of the best prep players from across the country. - See more at: http://www.aurorasentinel.com/sports/preps/baseball-peterson-strong-in-san-diego-regis-jesuit-hires-matt-darr/#sthash.H40fvxMI.dpuf
8-25-13 - Minor League Rundown @MiLBRundown - David Peterson looking solid. Good velo, curve for lefty
8-29-13 - Player: David Peterson Primary Position: LHP Secondary Position(s): 1B Height/Weight: 6’6/220 Bats/Throws: L/L Home Town: Denve. CO School: Regis Jesuit Class of: 2014 Committed To: Oregon Scouting Notes: 2013 Tournament of Stars Notes from Don Olsen - David is a long, lean, loose projectable arm with present arm speed in a Tyler Skaggs type mold. He hides the ball well in a nice ¾ slot, angle is tough to pick up with his long arms and lateral two way plane. David shows a bit of big man mechanics that could use minor ironing, but good arm action. Fastball has a lot of life on it, 89-90 mph, with a bit more left in the tank. Curve has a slurve type feel, 76-77 mph, and can be tough on LHH to square up. He flashes a straight or split change that has a little depth and is projectable offering. Frame and ability are highly enticing; with a good chance for three pitch mix. http://bigleaguefutures.net/1/2013/08/28/2014-mlb-draft-profile-david-peterson/

3. Philip Pfeifer
- 5-23-13 - Philip Pfeifer, LHP, Vanderbilt - In high school, Pfeifer went 46-4 with 465 strikeouts and won four state titles for Farragut HS in Tennessee. He wasn’t drafted until the 44th round because everyone knew he was going to Vanderbilt. Over 16.2 innings as a freshman, he had a 3.24 ERA and 8 K/9 BB. The 6’-1”, 190-pound left-hander made a relief appearance on February 16 against Long Beach State, allowing one unearned run on three hits over 1.1 innings. Since then, he has made three starts and has been brilliant for the third-ranked Commodores. Over 18.2 innings, he has allowed one run on nine hits, striking out 23 to eight walks. Your prototypical “crafty” southpaw, what he lacks in velocity, he makes up for in command and ability to mix his pitches well. http://throughthefencebaseball.com/2014-mlb-draft/29840#DWT4fu7C2Dic4cKl.99
4. Brandon Finnegan
6-9-13 - 12.Brandon Finnegan, LHP (TCU): He’s overshadowed by Rodon as far as college lefties go, but Finnegan has touched the upper 90s with a plus breaking ball (and posted nearly an identical FIP to Rodon). http://www.minorleaguerundown.com/2013/06/09/2014-mlb-draft-top-30-prospects/
6-11-13 - Player: Brandon Finnegan - Position: LHP - School: Texas Christian - Date of Birth: 4/14/1993 - Height/Weight: 5’11/184 - Bats/Throws: L/L - 2014 Class: College Junior - Previously Drafted: 2011, 45th rd, Rangers - Scouting Report: Low 3/4 arm slot Quick arm Fastball 93-96 early, 91-94 late, has touched 97 Fastball shows very good life - Slider, 85-88, shows above average potential - Change 82-85 - Does a good job of changing speeds - Has some issues with command http://bigleaguefutures.net/1/2013/06/11/2014-mlb-draft-profile-brandon-finnegan/
8-14-13 – Through The Fence – Top 50 Prospects – 34. Brandon Finnegan, LHP, TCU - He has reportedly hit triple-digits with his fastball. That alone will get you first-round attention. At 5-’11”, however, his size draws question marks for a frontline starter. He also features an upper-70s slurve and a decent change-up that has come a long way. He could end up a dominant closer in the mold of Billy Wagner. Had 86 K/35 BB over 79.1 innings as a sophomore. http://throughthefencebaseball.com/2014-mlb-draft-top-50-prospects/36463#mwWwsFxSUZy7YC5V.99
7-17-13 – Brandon Finnegan, LHP, TCU - The stadium gun was off on Monday night but it was easy to see Finnegan was throwing heat, blowing his fastball past hitters and recording two strikeouts in his one inning of work. Kevin Gallo tells me he topped out at 96 mph. I mention Finnegan because he's just 5'11", 185 lbs and generates much of that velocity with tremendous arm speed. Obviously there's not a lot of downward plane here and you wonder if his size will relegate him to the bullpen, though I'm told he can sustain that velocity late in games and he has a hard slider and a solid change-up to go with the fastball -- so he does have the necessary tools/skills to stick as a starter. Either way, he's an interesting prospect whether he sticks as a starter or becomes a Billy Wagner type closer. http://www.chicagonow.com/cubs-den/2013/07/looking-ahead-to-the-2014-and-2015-mlb-draft-notes-from-the-collegiate-national-team-games/
9-4-13 – Mack’s Mock Draft v1.0 – 27 – LHP Brandon Finnegan – TCU – In any other year Finnegan would be easily ranked as the top college lefty in the draft. Fastball: 93-96, 97… slider: 85-85... change 82-85… Very polished pitcher who mixes pitches well. Some project him out as an eventual closer.
5. Sean Newcomb
6-9-13 - 11.Sean Newcomb, LHP (Hartford): Will be the highest pick out of the America East Conference since Travis Jankowski, and might just go higher (he went 44th). Newcomb struck out 92 in 72 IP, posting a 2.81 FIP with his mid 90s fastball. http://www.minorleaguerundown.com/2013/06/09/2014-mlb-draft-top-30-prospects/
6-13-13 - 8. Los Angeles Dodgers — Sean Newcomb, LHP, Hartford - The 6’-5”, 240 pound southpaw was among the leaders in K/9 with a 11.5 mark this season thanks to a fastball that can touch 95 mph. Over 13 starts, he had a 3.75 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 92 K/37 BB over 72 innings while holding hitters to a .213 batting average. With increased improvement on his command, as well as secondary stuff, he should be a big name to watch next year. http://beforeitsnews.com/sports/2013/06/2014-mlb-mock-draft-1-0-no-time-like-the-present-2513748.html?currentSplittedPage=2

9-10-13 – Top Arms in 2013 Cape Cod League - Sean Newcomb 6-5/240, Wareham Gatemen 22.1 IP, 28 K, 4.43 ERA: FB 88-94 CB 69 SL 76-79 CH 81-83 - Spent most of the summer recovering from illness, and this led to some inconsistency (high ERA). Newcomb is a big lefty that uses little effort to throw in the mid-90s, with a lot of late dive. Most importantly, he improved every time I saw him pitch. http://bullpenbanter.com/2013-all-cape-team-pitchers/
6. Kodi Medeiros
6-13-13 - Todd Gold @TGold_PG - In 2nd IP 2014 LHP Kodi Medeiros (Hilo, HI) flashed couple quality changeups @ 80 & 82 after bumping 94 in 1st. at PG National
6-13-13 - Todd Gold @TGold_PG - 2014 LHP Kodi Medeiros (Hilo, HI) is sitting 90-92, touched 94 from low 3/4 slot with + tailing life, good 80 mph frisbee SL
7-2-13 - 25. Kodi Medeiros- LHP, Waiakea (HI) HS http://www.ninebaseball.org/Wordpress/jeff-sullivans-top-100-2014-prospects/
7-25-13 – Top 30 High School Prospects For 2014 Draft - 23. Kodi Medeiros, LHP, Waiakea HS (HI) - 6'0/180, Draft Day Age: 18.03, No college commitment - Quick Take: Medeiros is the best high school prospect from Hawaii in some times and really turned heads at the June's PG National in Minnesota, sitting 90-93 and hitting 94 with an above average to plus 78-80 mph breaking ball. He's unique and sure to be polarizing this spring: young for the class and athletic with an easy delivery but is undersized and throws from a low three quarters angle with nascent feel for a changeup. http://sbb.scout.com/2/1310090.html
8-12-13 - Gichael Mettys @Michaelgettys3 - The Hawaiian lefty (Kodi Medeiros) I faced was the best pitcher I've ever seen. Side arm, lefty, 94mph and the ball was moving like a snake! #nasty
8-14-13 – Through The Fence – Top 50 Prospects – 17. Kodi Medeiros, LHP, Waiakea HS (HI) - Medeiros was the talk of the PG Classic. Some people described his stuff as filthy, nasty and some players tweeted he had some of the best stuff they have ever seen. He hit 95 mph with his fastball and added a nasty, filthy slider that sat in the low 80s. What really makes him nasty and filthy, however, is his delivery. He throws from low three-quarters — almost sidearm. You don’t see a lot of sidearm, frontline starters in the majors so it will be interesting to watch him his senior season. Also, at 6’-0” and 185 pounds, his size may limit his upside. Nonetheless, he established himself as one of the most exciting players in the country. http://throughthefencebaseball.com/2014-mlb-draft-top-50-prospects/36463#mwWwsFxSUZy7YC5V.99
8-13-13 - The Perfect Game All-American Classic in San Diego - Kodi Medeiros (Waikaea High School, Hawaii.) was very impressive with a low 90′s fastball and a slider that will give left-handed hitters fits, but the arm slot screams reliever. http://mlbdraftinsider.com/2013/08/thoughts-on-perfect-game-all-american-classic/?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter
8-16-13 - 11th All-American Classic - Kodi Medeiros | LHP | Waiakea (Hilo, HI) Height/Weight: 6 feet/185 pounds B/T: L/L Draft Day Age: 18 years, 0 months Commitment: N/A Scouting Notes: Impressive; deception pitcher with stuff but not a gimmick guy; worked from extreme low three-quarters slot—basically a sidearmer; fastball worked 93-94 with plus movement; ball was diving under barrels; upper-70s to low-80s slider was filthy; fastball disguise and pure funk on the late two-plane break; showed mid-80s changeup as well; curious to see if he can hold velo and command the fastball to both sides of the plate; can’t wait to see him this spring. http://www.baseballprospectus.com/article.php?articleid=21537
9-4-13 – Mack’s Mock Draft v1.0 – 26 – LHP Kodi Medeiros - Waiakea (HI) HS – No one has come out of nowhere quicker this summer than Medeiros, who turned heads at June's PG National in Minnesota. Scouts said his stuff was ‘absolutely filthy’, aided by his strange deliver. FB: 90-93, 94… 78-80 breaking ball… throws from low three-quarters — almost sidearm.
9-11-13 - Sully’s 2014 Top 100 MLB HS Draft Prospects - 7.Kodi Medeiros – LHP, Waiakea (HI) HS http://www.ninebaseball.org/Wordpress/sullys-2014-top-100-mlb-hs-draft-prospects/
7. Tyler Nurdin
Sophomore lefty Tyler Nurdin (4-3, 1.83) was hampered by turf toe for much of the season but threw a complete-game shutout in his final regular-season start, and he has learned to command a solid four-pitch mix (5-29-13)
8. Scott Squier
6-22-13 - Player: Scott Squier Position: LHP School: Hawaii Date of Birth: 9/17/1992 Height/Weight: 6’6 Bats/Throws: R/L 2014 Class: College Junior Previously Drafted: 2011, 21st rd, Tigers Scouting Report: from Don Olsen on 6/18/2013 - Tall and narrow frame, little touch of overall development, comes across in the Chris Sale mold. Fastball 89- 92 (93) mph works with natural tail in the arm slot, shows some sink in the offering. Slider with more horizontal tilt than vertical and shows the bite that can induce swing/miss offering, grade at above average with some room to grow. Change up flashes, but needs to grow in order to round out into a solid three pitch mix. He throws mainly from a natural ¾ slot, but the arm leaks a fair amount of times into a sidearm slot angle might place into bullpen role, some teams do not see this as an issue into role. The FB/SL combo can ride hard on both sides that logical to fit into a back of the bullpen role, if the change up fails to develop. http://bigleaguefutures.net/1/2013/06/20/2014-mlb-draft-profile-scott-squier/
9. Justus Sheffield
6-13-13 - When brother Jordan went down with an elbow injury, Justus Sheffield carried much of the load for Tullahoma while leading the team to the state tournament. Bigger than his brother at 6-foot-0, 190 pounds, Sheffield throws in the low 90s. The nephew of former major league All-Star Gary Sheffield http://www.maxpreps.com/news/article.aspx?articleid=7c0ad513-b5e1-4ac1-b57e-8dedcc72c783&page=5

7-24-13 - 10. Justus Sheffield, lhp, Tullahoma (Tenn.)/Ohio Warhawks - Sheffield is a year younger than his brother, Jordan, who entered the spring as one of the top high school pitchers and was up to 97 mph before having Tommy John surgery in April. Both brothers are committed to Vanderbilt. Justus Sheffield has a strong, compact 6-foot, 190-pound build and has gotten a little leaner in the last year. His fastball can sit in the 90-92 mph in shorter stints and was up to 94 in the spring. He has an athletic delivery that features a high leg kick and throws from a three-quarter slot. His mid-70s changeup with fade could become an above-average pitch. Sheffield also throws a 75-78 mph breaking ball with three-quarter tilt. A good athlete, Sheffield has also shown potential in center field. Young for the class, Sheffield will turn 18 just prior to the draft. http://www.baseballamerica.com/draft/tyler-koleks-heavy-fastball-among-tournament-of-stars-standouts/
7-25-13 – Top 30 High School Prospects For 2014 Draft - 25. Justus Sheffield, LHP, Tullahoma HS (TN) - 6'0/185, Draft Day Age: 18.06, Vanderbilt commit, Full Report & Video - Quick Take: Sheffield is very well-known as he worked 90-94 mph in a heavily-scouted outing last October in the same game that his older brother RHP Jordan (Red Sox draftee will be a freshman at Vandy this year) used as his coming out party, hitting 98 mph in relief of his little brother. Justus' upside is limited by his size but he's athletic with advanced command, typically working 89-92 mph with an above average 78-80 mph changeup and a solid average breaking ball. http://sbb.scout.com/2/1310090.html
7-31-13 - Clint Longenecker @Clint_BA - Justus Sheffield (TN) 90-91, t93 with low-80s sl, 75-78 ch and low-70s cb
8-6-13 - Top pitchers - East Coast Professional Showcase, Syracuse, NY - 7. Justus Sheffield, LHP, Tullahoma HS (Tenn.): Sheffield could have been higher up on this list, perhaps hurt slightly because he more or less threw the way people have come to expect. There's also the fact that he is a bit undersized, albeit while throwing left-handed. Sheffield reached 94 mph in this event, but some feel he needs a tighter breaking ball. http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20130806&content_id=56048786&vkey=news_mlb&c_id=mlb

8-14-13 – Through The Fence – Top 50 Prospects – 49. Justus Sheffield, LHP, Tullahoma HS (TN) - Much like his older brother Jordan, who was considered first-round material until Tommy John surgery all but made him honor his commitment to Vanderbilt, Justus has a plus fastball that can touch 94 mph. The 6’-0” southpaw is a great athlete and also adds an above-average, mid-70s change, as well as a mid-70s curve that still needs refining. Committed to Vanderbilt. http://throughthefencebaseball.com/2014-mlb-draft-top-50-prospects/36463#mwWwsFxSUZy7YC5V.99
8-13-13 - The Perfect Game All-American Classic in San Diego - Justus Sheffield (Tullahoma High School, Tenn.) has a quick arm and showed a better feel for pitching than I saw over his junior year, but at 6’0″ 185 there is only so much upside in his left arm. http://mlbdraftinsider.com/2013/08/thoughts-on-perfect-game-all-american-classic/?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter
8-16-13 - 11th All-American Classic - Justus Sheffield (LHP, Tullahoma HS (Tullahoma, TN)): Four-pitch lefty who continues to impress—showed all four pitches despite facing two batters; fastball worked in the low 90s; low-80s slider; low-70s curve; low-80s change; all pitches in line with his previous summer showings; advanced feel and pitchability; works the quadrants and already shows understanding of sequencing; repeatable motion and solid arm action; high-level follow, Day 1 candidate; Vandy commit. —Nick J. Faleris http://www.baseballprospectus.com/article.php?articleid=21537
8-21-13 - Todd Gold @TGold_PG - 2014 LHP Justus Sheffield (Tullahoma, TN) just had 2 very impressive IP. K'd first 5, spotted up glove side very well, up to 92.

7-5-13 - Mac Marshall, LHP, Parkview HS (GA) - One of the better southpaws in the 2014 MLB draft, Marshall’s fastball sits in the low/mid-90s and he has worked hard on his delivery and command over the past year. He also flashed a potential plus curveball at the Perfect Game Nationals. At 6’-2” and 185 pounds, he is a great athlete who has been clocked at 6.7 in the 60. As a junior, he had 80 K/32 BB over 46 innings for one of the premiere programs in the country. 7-25-13 – Top 30 High School Prospects For 2014 Draft - 14. Mac Marshall, LHP, Parkview HS (GA) - 6'2/185, Draft Day Age: 18.36, LSU commit, Full Report & Video - Quick Take: Marshall comes from a powerhouse Atlanta-area program that's produced RF Jeff Francoeur and first rounders in the past two years, 1B Matt Olson (Athletics) and CF Josh Hart (Orioles). Marshall sits 90-92 and has hit 94 mph with his fastball while his off-speed pitches are inconsistent but his 75-79 mph downer curveball and 79-82 mph changeup are both above average at times with potential for more. http://sbb.scout.com/2/1310090.html
8-6-13 - Top pitchers - East Coast Professional Showcase, Syracuse, NY - 2. Mac Marshall, LHP, Parkview HS (Ga.): Marshall had suffered a minor oblique injury at the Perfect Game showcase in Minneapolis, so this was his first time back on the mound. He clocked 90-92 mph, but typically throws much faster. But Marshall commanded his breaking stuff well and was very efficient. http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20130806&content_id=56048786&vkey=news_mlb&c_id=mlb

7-2-13 - 24. Brady Aiken- LHP, Cathedral Catholic (CA) HS http://www.ninebaseball.org/Wordpress/jeff-sullivans-top-100-2014-prospects/
7-5-13 - Brady Aiken, LHP, Cathedral Catholic HS (CA) - One of the youngest players in the 2014 MLB draft, the 6’-4” southpaw is an alumni of Team USA Baseball and is very polished on the mound. His fastball sits in the low 90s, and both his curveball and change-up are solid offerings. He has great control of his pitches and dominated at The Tournament of Stars, striking out seven over three scoreless innings. He had a 1.18 ERA and 80 K/25 BB over 53.1 innings as a junior for a team that included 2013 fourth-round pick Stephen Gonsalves. Committed to UCLA. http://throughthefencebaseball.com/prep-arms-chicago-cubs/34856#Vp7zJ4JvRevfV1fR.99
7-24-13 - 5. Brady Aiken, lhp/of, Cathedral Catholic, San Diego/San Diego Show - At 6-foot-4, 205 pounds with broad shoulders and room to carry more weight, Aiken has an ideal pitcher’s build. He has a quick arm, clean arm action and hides the ball well from a high three-quarters arm slot. His fastball sits 89-92 mph and will touch 93 with downhill plane. Aiken has a curveball with tight 1-to-7 rotation, making it one of the best breaking balls in the class at its best. His low-80s with fade changeup shows the makings of an above-average offering. Aiken repeats his fluid delivery well and has good control. He is a two-way player as an outfielder. Aiken, a UCLA commit, is young for the class and will be 17 on draft day. http://www.baseballamerica.com/draft/tyler-koleks-heavy-fastball-among-tournament-of-stars-standouts/
7-25-13 – Top 30 High School Prospects For 2014 Draft - 29. Brady Aiken, LHP, Cathedral Catholic HS (CA) - 6'4/210, Draft Day Age: 17.81, UCLA commit, Full Report & Video - Quick Take: Aiken has been scouted a lot, coming from a top program as mentioned above and is a big lefty among the youngest in the class, so there's a lot to like. His stuff is more average now, working 88-92 with a solid curveball and changeup but the feel to pitch is good and he's not a bad prospect as a right fielder with good athleticism, some power and a plus arm http://sbb.scout.com/2/1310090.html

8-16-13 - 11th All-American Classic - Brady Aiken (LHP, Cathedral Catholic HS (San Diego, CA): Excellent size; major-league body; high three-quarters slot with a high front side; deliberate with the leg lift and plant; pretty easy and repeatable; pace was inconsistent and he struggled with runners on; slow release around 1.50 seconds to plate with runners on; fastball comfortable at 91-92 with some sink; long, tumbling curve at 73-74; good feel for the offering; fastball command limited the pitch. —Jason Parks http://www.baseballprospectus.com/article.php?articleid=21537
8-31-13 – Area Code Games - Brady Aiken (LHP) 6’4″ 205; 2014 Large frame w/strong, athletic build. Exceptional athlete also plays CF. Good projection body that looks the part on the mound. Simple delivery remains online for pinpoint command. Loose HTQ arm uses present 5/future 6FB w/future 60 command. Lives on top of BB w/confident arm side spot and downplane. Late breaking CB w/12:6 shape. Advanced feel for CH sells with same arm speed and tumbling effect; misses bats. Finishes all his pitches and lives down in the zone. Showed mound savvy where game came very EZ for him. Strong follow; 3-pitch mix starter material. http://bigleaguefutures.net/1/2013/08/31/area-code-notes/
9-1-13 - Jim Callis – 9. Brady Aiken, lhp/of, Cathedral Catholic HS, San Diego - Projectable athlete could have three plus pitches in time, reminds me of Trey Ball at same stage.
9-4-13 – Mack’s Mock Draft v1.0 – 16 – LHP Brady Aiken – Cathedral Catholic (CA) HS – 6-4 frame, Aiken is going to be a great major league pitcher. Had a great summer at the 11th All-American Classic and the Area Code Games. Every scout was wowed by his control… 91-92 fastball… 73-74 curve. He also will be one of the youngest players in the 2014 draft. Could easily wind up a top 10 pick.

12. Carson Sands
6-13-13 - Carson Sands, North Florida Christian (Tallahassee, Fla.), Pitcher Sands has already experienced national competition as a member of Team USA 18U, which won the gold medal last year. He posted a 7-2 record with 81 strikeouts and a 1.28 ERA in 54.2 innings pitched. http://www.maxpreps.com/news/article.aspx?articleid=7c0ad513-b5e1-4ac1-b57e-8dedcc72c783&page=9
7-24-13 - Carson Sands, lhp, North Florida Christian, Tallahassee, Fla./Orlando Scorpions - Sands was one of two underclassmen to make the 18U team last summer. A large frame, broad shoulders and strong lower half, give the 6-foot-4, 205-pound Sands a projectable body with room to fill out. The Florida State commit sits 88-91 mph and touches 92 with natural cut due to his long arm action. He has feel for a 77-78 mph changeup with fade and deceptive arm speed that flashes average. His mid-70s breaking ball shows two-plane break and depth at its best but is inconsistent. The 18-year-old gets downhill plane from an arm slot above three-quarters. Carson’s young brother Cole, a rising junior with a 90-91 mph fastball, also attended TOS and is one of the top arms in the 2015 class. http://www.baseballamerica.com/draft/tyler-koleks-heavy-fastball-among-tournament-of-stars-standouts/
8-14-13 – Through The Fence – Top 50 Prospects – 42. Carson Sands, LHP, N. Florida Christian HS (FL) - The 6’-3”, 215-pound southpaw has a low-90s fastball with arm-side run and there is still room for more velocity as he matures. He has great mound presence and looks like a polished pro. He also shows two solid secondaries in a change-up and curveball. His command gets him in trouble at times, but all of the ingredients are there. An alumni of Team USA Baseball, he has played against the best competition. Committed to Florida State. http://throughthefencebaseball.com/2014-mlb-draft-top-50-prospects/36463#mwWwsFxSUZy7YC5V.99
8-15-13 - Under Armour All-Star Game – Carson Sands, LHP: Similar in build and stuff to Griffin, the projectable Sands needs a bit more consistency on his secondaries but both his change and breaking ball. http://www.chicagonow.com/cubs-den/2013/08/2014-mlb-draft-ua-game-roster-and-preview-plus-more-tickets-and-meet-up-information/

7-15-13 - Perfect Game USA @PerfectGameUSA 8 Jul - 2014 LHP and Virginia commit Bennett Sousa up to 93 mph for the Florida Burn today! #PGTourney
8-8-13 - Nathan Rode @NathanRode - LHP Bennett Sousa (FL) looked solid in 3 IP. 90-91 in first 2, then high 80s. Threw strikes. 3rd inning a lite shaky. 74-77 CB flashed bite.
8-10-13 - New Balance Area Code games - Bennett Sousa (FL) started for the Yankees and stood out the most among their arms that went. He threw from a ¾ arm slot and generated good side arm run with his 89-91 MPH fastball. He did a solid job commanding the pitch and keeping it down in the zone. In the second, his fastball was more 87-89 MPH. He also showed a good feel for a 74-78 MPH curveball that had solid shape and hard bite at times. http://prospectinsider.com/view/2013-area-codes:-day-4-notes/
16. Cody Reed
7-16-13 - 2013 Tournament of Stars notes from Don Olsen: - Cody Reed has the ideal frame, good proportional development. He offers a little bit of projection in the Jim Deshaies mold. He throws from a ¾ slot with okay arm speed that shows natural tail on the arsenal. Fastball was 88-90 (91) mph and has the ability to work both sides, willing to pound in on all hitters. There is a bit of hop in the offering, as he hides the ball and makes it tough to pick up out of the hand. The curve was 72-75 mph, showing more of slurve feel from his slot. The offering has spin with depth; it should round out into a useable offering, maybe above average. The change was 81-82 mph, showed a bit of deception, nice fade with enough two way action that it could provide a bit of swing/miss. Minor ironing in repeating his release as he pushes the ball hand side a bit too much. He is an interesting under the radar arm that looks more of the BOR mold, high follow into next spring. http://bigleaguefutures.net/1/2013/07/16/2014-mlb-draft-profile-cody-reed/
17. Aaron Bummer
7-17-13 - Aaron Bummer (Nebraska) – LHP Pitcher, Harwich Mariners - 32 IP, 4-1, 0.84 ERA, 13 K, .97 WHIP - Bummer is nothing if not consistent. The Mariners' main man on the mound picked up another win this week, an 8-3 victory over Falmouth, to pull into a tie for the league lead in wins. He did so in the same fashion he has all season, dominating his opponents not through strikeouts, but through ground balls and flyouts. Bummer rarely gives up a run, and lets on very few baserunners. He simply gets the job done. He is in the top five in innings pitched and ERA, and has not allowed anyone beyond second base all summer. Bummer is a shutdown pitcher, and while he is backed by solid defense, the No. 2 team in the East owes a lot to its ace. http://capecodbaseball.org/news/league/index.html?article_id=1565

7-2-13 - 78. Devin Smeltzer- LHP, Bishop Eustace ( NJ) HS http://www.ninebaseball.org/Wordpress/jeff-sullivans-top-100-2014-prospects/
7-24-13 - Devin Smeltzer, lhp, Bishop Eustace Prep, Voorhees, N.J./Pennsauken American Legion - The 6-foot-2, 170-pound Smeltzer has a lean, lanky and angular build with long extremities. With a high waist, broad shoulders and lean legs, Smeltzer offers significant projection. He has a very deceptive delivery and the ball jumps out of his hand. Starting from the far third-base side of the rubber, Smeltzer uses a high leg kickand throws across his body to create deception and movement. He produces good arm speed from a long, loose arm action. Smeltzer’s arm slot, which is typically a tick below three-quarters, varies to create deception. The Florida Gulf Coast commit generally throws in the upper-80s but can sit 89-91 mph in shorter stints. At its best, Smeltzer’s high-70s breaking ball has sharp 1-7 tilt and depth. He will also vary its shape and throw a sweepier version to lefthanders and mixes in a low-80s changeup. Despite many moves parts, Smeltzer repeats his delivery well and has an advanced feel for pitching. Smeltzer sports glasses like fellow lefties Matt Purke, Brett Cecil and Gustavo Chacin. http://www.baseballamerica.com/draft/tyler-koleks-heavy-fastball-among-tournament-of-stars-standouts/
8-4-13 - Player: Devin Smeltzer Primary Position: LHP Secondary Position(s): OF Height/Weight: 6’2/170 Bats/Throws: R/L mHome Town: Vorhees, NJ School: Bishop Eustace Prep Travel Team(s): Tri-State Arsenal Class of: 2014 - Scouting Notes: - 2013 Tournament of Stars notes from Don Olsen: - Devin has ideal sloped athletic frame, high waist, lean and loose arm with a great deal of projection left in the tank. He is lanky in a Chris Sale mold. He throws from a ¾ to almost low ¾ slot. Arm action is a little whippy with some elevation and wrap, looking more reliever type action, highly deceptive and tough to adjust for hitters. His fastball was 87-88 (89) mph with the ability to work it around, gets some rise out of it, can keep it down. Change up 75-76 mph, flashed some good hand side fade to project. Curve 76-79 mph, had a slurve action in a 1/7 path, good spin on it to project. http://bigleaguefutures.net/1/2013/08/04/2014-mlb-draft-profile-devin-smeltzer/

21. Quinn Brody
7-20-13 – Primary Position: LHP - Secondary Position(s): OF - Height/Weight: 6’1/195 - Bats/Throws: L/L 2013 Tournament of Stars notes from Don Olsen: - Quinn Brody has a compact thick build with angular frame, good size that does not have much development in the lower half. He shows some projection and should sit in the 205-210 pound range in a Randy Wolf mold. He has a simple three piece delivery that is a relaxed high ¾ slot. His fastball was 87-89 (90) mph that is hard and heavy offering, that has a bit of hop in it. He shows the ability to work both sides, willing to work inside. The curve, 73-74 mph, had a bit of slurve glove side run, but decent rotation to project. He did not flash a change up this encounter, showcasing a two pitch mix. He is a good follow into the spring. http://bigleaguefutures.net/1/2013/07/20/2014-mlb-draft-profile-quinn-brodey/
8-10-13 - New Balance Area Code games - For the Brewers, left-hander Quinn Brody (CA) got the start. He isn’t the biggest, most projectable arm but he had an easy delivery that he repeated well with a smooth arm action. The left-handers fastball sat 87-89 MPH and had solid plane. His curve got slurvy at times but flashred nice 1-7 break at 71-73 MPH. http://prospectinsider.com/view/2013-area-codes:-day-4-notes/
22. Alex Destino
7-24-13 - Alex Destino, lhp, North Buncombe, Weaverville, N.C./South Charlotte Panthers - At 6-foot-3, 215-pounds, Destino has a large frame and sturdy build. The South Carolina commit has a smooth, repeatable delivery and easy arm action. His three-quarter arm slot creates deception and downhill plane. He sits 88-91 mph with his fastball and touches 92. Destino shows feel for a 76-78 mph breaking ball with three-quarter tilt and depth. He mixes an 80-82 mph changeup with fade. Destino repeats his delivery well and consistently throws strikes. http://www.baseballamerica.com/draft/tyler-koleks-heavy-fastball-among-tournament-of-stars-standouts/

23. Foster Griffin
7-24-13 - Foster Griffin, lhp, The First Academy, Orlando/Orlando Scorpions - At 6-foot-5, 195 pounds, Griffin has a large frame, strong lower half and lanky build that offers projection. With long arms, Griffin gets downhill plane from a high three-quarter arm slot. He has a long arm action that creates natural glove-side run. The Mississippi commit can touch 92 mph and sits 88-91 and offers a 71-74 curveball with three-quarter tilt. His mid-70s changeup with fade might be a better offering. Griffin, who plays travel ball with the Orlando Scorpions, attends The First Academy, which has at least three seniors who could be drafted a year after producing third-round shortstop Ben Deluzio. http://www.baseballamerica.com/draft/tyler-koleks-heavy-fastball-among-tournament-of-stars-standouts/
2013 East Coast Pro Showcase Top 50 Prospects - 18. Foster Griffin – LHP, The First Academy (FL) - Big, projectable LHP who is already sitting 91-92 http://www.ninebaseball.org/Wordpress/sullys-top-50-ecp-prospects/
8-14-13 – Through The Fence – Top 50 Prospects – 50. Foster Griffin, LHP, The First Academy (FL) - At 6’-5” and 190 pounds, the southpaw has a lot of projection and already has a great feel for pitching. His fastball can touch 92 mph and he adds a mid-70s change-up with nice fade. He has a loose and lanky frame, which bodes well for added velocity and mechanics. His size alone makes him an intriguing prospect. http://throughthefencebaseball.com/2014-mlb-draft-top-50-prospects/36463#mwWwsFxSUZy7YC5V.99
8-27-13 - Player: Foster Griffin Primary Position: LHP Secondary Position(s): OF Height/Weight: 6’5/195 Bats/Throws: R/L Home Town: Orlando, FL School: The First Academy Travel Team(s): Orlando Scorpions Class of: 2014 Committed To: Mississippi Scouting Notes: 2013 USA Baseball Tournament of Stars Notes from Don Olsen - Long, sloped and slider athletic build in Brian Matusz type mold. He has a sound three piece delivery with the balance and transfer that is relaxed, effortless. He repeats well for a long and limber pitcher, nice extension that allows him to attack the lower half with plane on every offering. Fastball was 89-91 mph with an extension that plays up the offering. Good movement on it with a tough plane to square up. Curve, 73-75 mph, has the shape and path to project into an above average offering. He did not show the change up this event, but that pitch could round out a nice 3 pitch mix. Foster is very projectable with easy arm speed. http://bigleaguefutures.net/1/2013/08/27/2014-mlb-draft-profile-foster-griffin/
8-15-13 - Under Armour All-Star Game – Foster Griffin, LHP: Another 6'5" pitcher, Griffin is still gangly with room to grow but the height also gives him some natural plane, He doesn't throw all that hard now 88-92, but there's obviously some projection left in that 195 lbs. build and could easily develop well above average velo for a southpaw. He also has glove side run on his FB. In addition, Griffin throws a curve and an advanced change for his age. http://www.chicagonow.com/cubs-den/2013/08/2014-mlb-draft-ua-game-roster-and-preview-plus-more-tickets-and-meet-up-information/
9-4-13 – Mack’s Mock Draft v1.0 – 24 – LHP Forrest Griffin – The First Academy (FL) HS – Another big lefty (6-5) tha has moved into my first round after an impressive summer at places like the 2013 USA Baseball Tournament of Stars and Under Armour All-Star Game. Fastball: 89-91… curve 73-75… still some velo projection. Had a great summer

24. Justin Steele
2013 East Coast Pro Showcase Top 50 Prospects - 32. Justin Steele – LHP, George County (MS) HS - Wasn’t aware of Steele before the event, but he is certainly on the radar now after coming out sitting 91-92, touching 93. http://www.ninebaseball.org/Wordpress/sullys-top-50-ecp-prospects/

25. Andrew Summerfield
8-27-13 - Player: Andrew Summerville Primary Position: LHP Height/Weight: 6’3/185 Bats/Throws: L/L Home Town: Seattle, WA School: Lakeside Class of: 2014 Committed To: Stanford - Scouting Notes: - 2013 USA Baseball Tournament of Stars Notes from Don Olsen - Tall, long narrow athletic frame with a ton of projection left in a Mitch Williams type mold, to go along with the high leg kick delivery. Good relaxed three piece action with the extension to stay low, there is a bit of backspin off the 4S, good release. Fastball was 86-88 mph with some natural tail on the offering. The curve, 70-71 mph, has some depth and rotation with a touch of glove side break to project. He shows a great deal of moxie on the mound, good fight and willing to attack both hitters. He is a loose and projectable arm that could see a bit more velocity down the line. http://bigleaguefutures.net/1/2013/08/27/2014-mlb-draft-profile-andrew-summerville/
26. Dillon Peters
9-10-13 – Top Arms in 2013 Cape Cod League - Dillon Peters (Texas – Jr. ) 5-10/190, Harwich Mariners 22 IP, 21 K, 1.22 ERA: FB 89-92 SL 76-77 - Most of the other members of my All-Cape pitching staff are well above six feet tall. Peters doesn’t possess the same type of height, but he makes up for that based on his heart and competitive drive. He would be successful on his intensity alone. When you add that to a plus FB and a swing and miss slider, you have the makings of a pitcher that can get outs in any situation. http://bullpenbanter.com/2013-all-cape-team-pitchers/
27. Jared Miller
9-10-13 – Top Arms in 2013 Cape Cod League - Jared Miller 6-6/235, Vanderbilt Senior) Orleans Firebirds 31.1 IP, 24 K, 2.29 ERA: FB 85-91 SL 77-79 CH 82 - The slider misses tons of bats and he floods the zone with all his pitches. He works 88-89 but turns up the velo when it matters. With his body and deceptive mechanics, he has a bright future on the hill. http://bullpenbanter.com/2013-all-cape-team-pitchers/
28. Kyle Freeland
9-10-13 – Top Arms in 2013 Cape Cod League – LHP Kyle Freeland (Evansville Jr.) 6-4/185, Hyannis Harborhawks 40 IP, 48 K, 2.25 ERA: FB 90-93 CB 78-81 SL 82-85 CH 82 - His fastball has plus action and he walked 4 batters this entire CCBL season. The slider has the potential to turn into an MLB out-pitch, and he will improve in replicating his arm slot and arm action due to his athleticism. I think his ceiling is as high as any pitcher in the CCBL. http://bullpenbanter.com/2013-all-cape-team-pitchers/
29. Nick Raquet
9-11-13 - Sully’s 2014 Top 100 MLB HS Draft Prospects – 84.Nick Raquet – LHP, State College (PA) HS http://www.ninebaseball.org/Wordpress/sullys-2014-top-100-mlb-hs-draft-prospects/
