September 20th - Mets 6, Phillies 4
Friday night in Philadelphia, David Wright homered in his first at bat in 7 weeks…as the Mets go on to beat the Phillies 6-4. In the first inning the Mets took a 3-nothing lead. Eric Young Jr. lead the game off with a double off losing pitcher Cole Hamels, Daniel Murphy, who had a big game, came through with an rbi single and it was 1-zip. Then Wright crushed the first pitch he saw in 7 weeks over the right field wall, #17 on the year and the Mets were off and running. The Met lead grew to 5-0. In the third Andrew Brown added an rbi single and in the 4th Young added an rbi single himself. Daisuke Matsuzaka started…and had things well in hand until 4th when the Phils scored 4 times (2 runs were unearned due to an error by Young) Darin Ruf had the big hit, a 2 run double and it was 5-4 Mets. The Mets added an insurance run in the top of the 7th on a rbi fielder’s choice by Josh Satin. Dice K gets the win. He improves to 2-3. He went 6 innings, allowed 4 hits, 4 runs (only 2 earned) he walked 3 and struck out 6. Lowering his era to a more human looking 5.52. Scott Atchison, Vic Black, Pedro Feliciano and LaTroy Hawkins finished up. Hawkins notched his 10th save. Murphy went 3 for 5 with 3 runs scored, his 20th stolen base and an rbi. David Wright and Eric Young each had 2 hits apiece. With the win the Mets notch win #69 against 84 losses. Their road record nears .500 at 37-39. Saturday is game 2 of the series. Dillon Gee (11-10 3.47) makes his 2nd attempt at win #12. Tyler Cloyd (2-5 5.06) goes for Philly. https://www.facebook.com/MetsForum
