April 10th 2014 - Mets 6, Braves 4

Juan Legares hit an opposite field single in the top of the 7th inning to bring home Daniel Murphy with the go ahead run. The Mets come from behind to beat the Braves 6-4. The Mets lead early 3-1, but the Braves got to Mets starter Jenrry Mejia for 3 runs in the bottom of the 3rd inning, highlighted by Justin Upton’s 2nd homer of the game to take a 4-3 lead. The Mets tied the game in the 5th on an RBI single by Murphy. Legares’ single in the 7th gave the Mets the lead for good. Murphy doubled to right center in the 8th bringing home Young to make it 6-4. Mejia wasn't sharp going 5 innings allowing 6 hits 4 runs, 4 earned he walked 4 and struck out 7. Carlos Torres who pitched a scoreless 6th and 7th picked up the win he’s now 2-0. Torres was sharp striking out the side in the 7th. Kyle Farnsworth pitched a scoreless 8th; Jose Valverde pitched the 9th for his 2nd save. David Hale started and got the no decision, Luis Avilan took the loss for the Braves. Offensively for the Mets Eric Young went 3 for 5 with a triple and 4 runs scored and 3 steals. Murphy went 3 for 4 with the double 2 RBI and a theft of 3rd setting up the go ahead run in the 7th. Legares has now hit in 8 of the Mets 9 games on the year and leads the club with 6 RBI. Justin Upton had a big game for the Braves with a pair of homers off Mejia, his 2nd homer in the 3rd was a tape measure shot to left field. The Mets now stand at 4-5. They take the series from the Braves 2 games to 1. Next up the Mets take an early trip to the west coast. Friday night the Mets are in Anaheim to take on the Angels. Dillon Gee (0-0 4.50) goes for the Mets. Tyler Skaggs (1-0 0.00) goes for Anaheim.

Nice win, but a tough commute coming up tonight.

Their plane lands around 6am LA time, then an hour bus ride to their hotel... then a night game...

Look at EY's boxscore + 3 steals. Murphy strong hitting. Can't ask for better relief pitching. Win 2 out of three in a tough park. Keep it going .
