The Terminator series of movies, which I loved, started in the first flick with the mighty scary T-X model.
In the 2nd flick, the aliens moved up to a more lethal, scarier model, the T-1000.
I loved the scene where the T-1000 was driving a tractor trailor chasing the kid on his motor bike (John Conner) through the viaducts of L.A. Pretty much how I imagine that Mack drives - just speculating.
Steve Matz and Anthony Kay are both Terminator series Cyborgs.
Both were "manufactured" in Ward Melville HS in Setauket, LI.
Both are lefties.
Both drafted around the same slot (Matz # 72 overall in 2009, Kay in 2016 at # 31).
Both needed Tommy John surgery right out of the gate, delaying their pro debuts substantially. Gotta fix those factory flaws.
Remarkable similarities, don't you think?
Built, clearly, in the same factory.
But Matz seems to be just a first generation model T-X, sometimes lethal, but often not lethal enough.
Anthony Kay, though, looks like a T-1000 this year in AA. Upgraded model.
I mean what do you call 44 IP, 22 hits, 16 BB, 45 Ks, a 1.24 ERA and a 1.48 batting average against?
And that includes a game (his 3rd start, in the bitter cold early season) where he gave up 4 runs, in 4.1 IP, with 1 in the 4th, and 2 in the fifth.
Otherwise, 7 starts, 2 earned runs. Two. Just Two.
This T-1000 Dude consistently throws in the mid 90s and has a great hook.
The T-1000 could transform its shape. Anthony Kay could transform the Mets pitching staff.
No one wants a player rushed too fast, but...how longer before this T-1000 is pitching for the Mets?
Reeking havoc and what-not.
I think not very long.
I'm ready for another Terminator episode.

When I got a weekend job driving cab in 1968 for the Katz Bros out of LIC, they game me this pointer...
One of them turned all the rear view mirrors so I couldn't see anything on the side or back...
He said 'don't worry about what's going on there. They care too much for their car to hit you.'
THAT'S how I drive.
As I opined this morning, trade Zack Wheeler to replenish the embarrassingly barren farm system and promote Kay. The Padres took Paddack straight from AA and how's that working out?
I've seen too many pitchers who were rushed to the majors, failed there, and never made it back.
Flexen and Oswald were highly rated. Then they were rushed to Queens. There are a lot more of them than there are Paddacks.
There's a reason why the minors are called a "farm" system. And just like a farm that raises fruit and veggies, consuming the produce before it is ripe can give you stomach aches.
Bill, I think Kay's stuff is far better than Ozzie and Flex, but I agree not to rush him. However, 4 of 5 more dominant starts, I want him in Queens.
Mack, I am glad we drive 6 states apart!
Wheeler would turn into the 1984 version of Rick Sutcliffe if we trade him. either that or Anthony Young - not sure.
Sorry but not signing Gio was a BIG mistake and now without Conforto and McNeil we're looking at just ONE soft team (Giants) starting with the Dodgers the last week of this month right thru June so are we set up for a repeat of June 18' please nooooooooo.
David Rubin Here- can't sign in still (problem on MY end):
Tom- Great piece; I was lucky enough to see the original Terminator at a small theater in NY a few weeks before wide release and couldn't believe how great this "small" movie featuring a bodybuilder was!!! Now I'm happy to hear that Cameron is taking back the franchise, rebooting it and eliminating all of the crap after Terminator 2.
And that, my friend, is what Brodie is TRYING to do but the Wilponzi's won't let him. Chaim Bloom wanted that full reboot, but the owners wanted to contend now, hence the mess that we find ourselves in.
We can spend our way out - NOT going to happen. I mean, it's the WILPONS!!
We can rush prospects up, like Kay, and we get another Flexxen - NOT a good way to go. We've all seen too many great prospects (David Clyde, Brian Tayler anyone?) crash and burn by being promoted too soon.
No, Mr Stonybrook Kay needs to be treated like Mr Stonybrook Matz, not rushed, and allowed to bloom right on schedule.
Please do NOT rush him up- for every Doc Gooden I can give you 20 more Flexxen's.
I agree with Reese, from earlier today, get Keuchel, get Kimbrel, but do NOT rush the young'ens...PLEASE!!!
Good points, David. We can make deGrom our #5 starter again if we upgrade talent. After all, he is pitching like a # 5.
David, a full reboot may soon be the way to go, meaning many may get the boot and be terminated.
