Binghamton, NY – The New Hampshire Fisher Cats (15-18) scored eight runs in the first and wouldn’t look back beating the Binghamton Rumble Ponies 10-5 at NYSEG Stadium Friday Night. The Ponies (19-11) four-game winning streak was snapped as they dropped the series opener after returning home following a nine-game road trip.
Binghamton starter Mike Gibbons was charged with 8 runs, 7 earned, and was taken out after facing nine batters and getting just one out, He allowed 4 hits and issued three walks in a half-inning where the Ponies committed two errors. It was the shortest outing of the season for Gibbons, who allowed more runs in just one inning than he had in any single start all year. Prior to Friday, Gibbons had gone at least five innings in the previous six games he pitched this season.
In the first, the Fisher Cats had back-to-back home runs from Santiago Espinal and Alberto Mineo. Espinal finished 4-6, with 5 RBI.
The Rumble Ponies did try to claw their way back, cutting the deficit to four in the eighth. Arismendy Alcantara finished 3-5 with 2 RBI. Mike Paez had an RBI double and finished with 2 runs batted in. Paez also had a great diving stop in the sixth to rob New Hampshire’s Brock Lundquist of a hit.

The Horizons Federal Credit Union pregame show begins at 1:50. The first 1,000 fans in attendance will also receive a Jacob DeGrom Bobblehead.
