FLUSHING, N.Y., May 9, 2019 – The New York Mets announced today that the club has placed LHP Steven Matz on the 10-Day Injured List, retroactive to May 5, with radial nerve discomfort and recalled infielder Dominic Smith from Syracuse (AAA) of the International League. Smith will wear #22 and will be available for tomorrow night’s game vs. Miami.
Smith, 23, hit .333 (10-30) with two doubles and four RBI in 29 games with Mets. He was optioned to Syracuse on May 3. Smith was 2-9 (.222) with one double and one RBI in two games with Syracuse.
