Highlights).
Noah
Syndergaard started, struck out four and allowed a run on two hits.
SNY.TV
had this quote on what Noah worked on: "I think just confidence, and
confidence in my delivery, really," Syndergaard said. "Just trusting
it and trying to be as rhythmic as possible."
NY
Post: His new manager, Luis Rojas, has liked what he has seen from Syndergaard
and thinks the 6-foot-6 pitcher can deliver even more.
“The more you learn yourself, the more adjustments you can
make,’’ Rojas said. “He’s getting his slider to translate from bullpen to
games. The feedback he’s getting and the research and work he’s doing with
Hefner helps him understand what his pitches are doing and how they are moving.
It tells you how you get swings, ground balls, and make pitches play. Right
now, it’s paid off.”
Robinson
Cano and Pete Alonso
led the Mets offense with back to back doubles in the fifth. Each went 2 for 3
on the day as they look to get their bats going.
NY
Post: J.D. Davis played his first game since jamming his left shoulder Feb.
25 and reported no problems.
René Rivera
added a solo home run in the eighth.
Edgardo
Fermin came in to play left field later in the game.
He made a nice sliding catch in the seventh
and then started a real nice relay throwing to Luis
Guillorme to René Rivera
to get a runner out at the plate.
Jeff McNeil
was back in the lineup for the Mets going 0 for 2 and Amed
Rosario went 1 for 3 with a double.
Top Mets prospect, Ronny Mauricio, singled in a late game at bat.

SNY.TV
had takeaways from yesterday’s game including: Erasmo
Ramírez and Robert
Gsellman led the way for the Mets bullpen. Ramirez matched
Syndergaard's four punchouts, while Gsellman added two. Both tossed two frames.
Ryder
Ryan and Joe
Zanghi each pitched one inning as well.

All in all, I am feeling very good about the 2020 Mets, with the biggest threat as I see it being the corona virus - will it disrupt the baseball season. The great thing about baseball in most places? It is played outdoors, so you are not breathing recirculated indoor air.
Syndergaard seems more and more like he may have a big bounceback year.
I think Brian Joura's Conforto 2020 projection is about exactly where I would slot Conforto - good job, Brian.
Elite Sport NY has Cano not doing well? My suggestion, in an earlier article, is to play him almost exclusively against righties, who in his career he's hit much better than lefties, and rest the remainder - if so, he'll do fine.
Tom, I have Conforto busting out in a big way mostly based on law of averages. His BABIP has barely been over .300 once, and never again, so just on that alone there’s hope. By comparison, Rosario’s .319 second half average had a .371 BABIP. I’m expecting Conforto to have big time David Wright numbers this year.
Interesting take in the NY Post today about how the Coronavirus is slowing down.
Losing David Rubin as a writer here is like having your cleanup hitter go down with a season ending injury.
