Back in that day we only cared about results and he provided them more reliably than anyone we'd ever seen. Contract disputes, off-field behavior and personality issues were never part of the conversation. He was a pro's pro and no one since then has been as much a part of the Mets foundation and history. He has always been missed and now even more so.

John From Albany called me with the sad news. I am out of pocket tonight so I am writing this on my phone, not my computer.

We knew this would happen and we feared it would come before the statues.

Bastards.

Gil Hodges had my baseball heart but Tom Seaver had my soul.

Goodnight dear sir. Our friend Andy Carra will meet you at the gate for your ride home to imortality.

What a shame; he brought such joy to so many with his play on the field, contributing mightily to turning around a sad sack team into World Champions. I'm sorry that he didn't get to spend his entire career with the Mets, but even more so that his golden sunset couldn't have lasted a few decades longer. my condolences to his family, friends, and all Mets fans.

Texas Gus you beat me to that comment. He was absolutely and undoubtedly the best Met ever. Shoulda been a 400 game winner. Nice to be great - and beloved. RIP.
