The Mets have had seven walk off wins in the playoffs. Sadly, none lately. Alexander the Great once had big wins, too.

Stroman probably wants the Yankees. Let's see what unfolds.

It sure will be nice to see what the prospects do next year. We have some good ones - hopefully we keep all of the best ones this winter.

Any clips of Mauricio hitting in 2020? I just wonder if he is starting to fill out.

Bubba Trammel - another guy I forgot was ever on the Mets.

The other former Mets birthday boy, John Candelaria, once pitched against my HS team. 7 innings, one hit, 18 Ks. No surprise.

Just 12 of 1960 career innings were as a Met. He was born 2 days after me. And we're both lefties.

I saw him once in basketball - back in the days you'd never see a freshman on the HS varsity - he played for Rice, against Archbishop Molloy, who had future pro hoops players Kevin Joyce and Brian Winters, in the CHSAA finals. I think Molloy won. Joyce was a beast in that game.

Great info Tom. Pirates did a good job in those days recruiting NYers - Richie Zisk, Willie Randolph, and Candy.

Tom Brennan said...

John, Candy was 6'7" and could hoop it up as a freshamn against top HS competition. I wonder how that career would have gone if baseball had not intruded.

Zisk? I think he hit one over 500 feet once - took a quick look - couldn't find it - but found this tidbit to be interesting:

In 1987, Joey Meyer of the Denver Zephyrs hit the longest verifiable home run in professional baseball history. The home run was measured at a distance of 582 feet (177 m) and was hit inside Denver's Mile High Stadium.

582 feet. Take THAT, Pete Alonso!
