As we have had on the Breakfast Links the past few days, different Mets writers have suggested different questions for today’s Press Conference with Steve Cohen and Sandy Alderson. These have included:

I don’t
really have any questions for Steve Cohen.
I think he has a great job taking questions from fans on twitter.
I do have
one big one for Sandy and of course it has to do with defense.

the last time you were here you did not put a lot of emphasis on defense. To be fair, that position enabled you to win
the National League pennant in 2015 with an Infield of Wilmer Flores at SS,
Daniel Murphy at 2B, and Lucas Duda at 1B.
However, the Royals then exposed that lack of defense during the World
Series as the Mets were not able to make plays at critical moments.
What is
your position on defense now and how would you plan to improve the current team's defense?”

"Will Luis and/or FO personnel appear regularly on WFAN to be interviewed or answer phone calls from fans?
That is a good one Bill. They should be more involved with WFAN now that the games are back on the sister station - WCBS.
But not just WFAN, why not make the the team more accessible to the Media in general. For example the recent instructional league was very secretive.
Will there be a change in the international market as far as the Mets approach to signing these players? Will they compete with the Yankees, Dodgers and other teams for top talent?

Is the goal to win now or win consistently over the years? Approaches to each are different.
What is the plan to enhance scouting and player development? Will the system be integrated through all levels of the minors all the way up to the Mets?
Does Steve Cohen expect to build a Mets team that could be considered a favorite to get to the 2021 World Series?
Given the overall abysmal performance of the pen for the past 3 years, and its negative impact on the Mets' efforts to make the post season over that time frame, will Steve be committed to building a killer pen this off season?
Sandy, in the past you didn’t make the small upside trade to improve an area but only looked to make trades where you hit a home run and rip off the other team. Will that approach continue?
I highly doubt that Cohen will answer questions on specific players. That said, I’d love to know whether he will be willing to eat the majority of Cano’s remaining deal to make him attractive to a team looking for a LH DH. The Yankees come to mind, since they do in fact need LHH, and it’s a team for which Cano would almost certainly waive his no trade clause. Pretty sure that the Yanks would trade a prospect or two for Cano at around $7mm per.
Cano’s exit would improve the defense at multiple positions (2B and wherever we would otherwise have to put McNeil), and/or keeping DH open for Smith/Alonso.
