Mets reliever Jacob Barnes touched 95 mph in his first Grapefruit League appearance today, but he was wild and ineffective, walking two batters, hitting another, and allowing three runs on three hits.

Barnes recorded only two outs before the inning ended due to his pitch count.

2002 - Cleveland Indians center fielder Alex Escobar will have reconstructive knee surgery, after he crashes into an outfield wall, and will miss the entire season. Escobar, who was acquired in the Roberto Alomar trade, was once a highly touted Mets prospect. His stock has fallen considerably in recent years, due to injury problems.

Mack’s Blast From The Past comes from 3-4-12 – Mack had a “Projected” Mets injury report that included such tidbits as “C Josh Thole fell off a bar stool while being interviewed on SNY at Duffy’s Sports Bar and Grill” and “SP Johan Santana’s attempt to be ready by opening day was derailed when he developed hamstring problems after tripping on his wallet”.
