OF Joshua Baez
Baez has as much superstar potential in this draft as absolutely anybody. The power, the speed, and arm, he could be a complete player. Baez hit tool will ultimately dictate how high he can take his profile at the big league level, but he’s shown reasons mechanically why it will work. Couple that with the attitude, personality and work ethic and all the building blocks are there for a big league stud.
Mack’s spin -
Baez is one of the big bats in this draft.
I have him as the 7th outfielder and probably an early 2nd round pick.

The Mainland Regional High School baseball players looked behind the backstop before the Mustangs’ scrimmage against St. Augustine Prep last week and saw 40 to 50 major league scouts, many of them holding radar guns.
The scouts were there to see Mainland Regional senior pitcher Chase Petty. The scene should be even wilder when Petty makes his season debut on the mound at Holy Spirit in Absecon at 4 p.m. Tuesday.
Mack’s spin -
You all know how high I am on Petty.
I have him as the 9th RHP on my board and I would become a Catholic if he was around when we pick in the 2nd round,
4-19-21 - Joey Cohen @JoeyCohen20
Max Muncy had himself 4 hits on the day 3 showed below. Aggressively got out in front of balls. Showed well in the field with the glove and arm.
Mack’s spin -
I have Muncy as the 24th shortstop in this draft

Louisville catcher Henry Davis has an incredible eye at the plate: rarely swinging and missing, making hard contact with power and showing a plus arm with good hands on defense.
So why isn’t he the top prospect in this draft class?
Mack’s spin -
Good question, but teams are deathly afraid not to pick one of the two top pitchers who might be the best to come around in the last 10 years… Vandy’s Jack Leiter and Kumar Rocker.

10. New York Mets: Sal Frelick, OF, Boston College
Frelick’s season just keeps getting better and better. Could he be a top-five pick? Hard to say. I believe he’s worthy of it. At first glance, it’s hard to predict what Frelick’s career will become. He’s a smaller player with a lot of pop. Will this pop translate well in the Bigs? Hard to say. Will he find a niche as a fielder/runner instead? Still, hard to say. If we’re talking hitting, the further the season moves along, the more legit Frelick appears. The Mets traded away Jared Kelenic, something I think they’ll regret in the long run, I believe. Drafting Frelick will inject some advanced hitting into their system again, before the bottom drops out.
Mack’s spin -
Look, I like Frelick, but not above big dude outfielders like Colton Cowser and James Wood who Through The Fence diesn’t pick until after the Mets pick.

I'm gonna say this again. MLB scouts are damn good at what they do. If you are a stud, they will FIND YOU!! You can be in a town with 3 traffic lights and a graduating class of 15 and if you're good enough they will find you. Bunch of MLB'ers went to small country schools.

Spencer Schwellenbach thriving this season
Spencer Schwellenbach has performed well as a two-way player for Nebraska this season. The junior from Saginaw, Michigan, is in his first year splitting time as Nebraska’s starting shortstop and closer.
After only playing shortstop in his first two years, Schwellenbach has handled the additional role well. He is one of the team’s top hitters and has been nearly unhittable on the mound.
His success as a two-way player has caused him to garner additional attention from scouts preparing for July’s MLB draft. Scouts project Schwellenbach as a potential top-five-round pick in this year’s draft.
Mack’s spin -
Currently, I have Schwellenbach coming off the board as the 18th SS picked.
Current 2021 Nebraska stat line, as of 4-19 -
24-G, 96-AB, .323, 1.011-OPS, 3-HR
8-appearances, 0-0, 0.00, 0.60, 5-SV, 10-IP, 16-K, 0-BB

Because the Canada-US border is still closed because of the coronavirus pandemic, the Frontier League has announced that it will be a 14-team league this year. There will be one travel team that hopefully will be able to play in Quebec in the second half of the season.
4-17-21 - Prospects Worldwide @ProspectsWorldW
Colton Cowser has been one of the hottest bats in college baseball in recent weeks
Mack’s spin -
I have Cowser as the 4th outfielder on my board… as a late 1st or early 2nd round pick.

LHP Jordan Wicks
During his time at Kansas State, Wicks was an immediate starter and earned a role in their weekend rotation. As a freshman, Wicks made fifteen starts with a 6-3 record, 3.61 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and a 9.1 K/9.
As a sophomore, Wicks had an incredible season during the COVID-19 shortened season. In four starts, Wicks had a 3-0 record with a 0.35 ERA allowing only one run in 26 innings pitched. He also had a 0.65 WHIP, 1.4 BB/9 and 9.0 K/9.
During the 2021 season, Wicks has made eight starts with a 4-2 record. He also has a 3.72 ERA, 12.3 K/9, 1.28 WHIP and 5.08 strikeout-to-walk ratio.
Mack’s spin -
I go hot and cold on Wicks all mock season. Not currently in love with the 1.28 WHIP.
I have him as the 3rd lefty in this draft, which may only barely insure him a late second round pick.

Gonzaga righthander Alek Jacob threw a no-hitter in a 10-0 victory against Pepperdine. The fourth-year junior struck out 12 batters and walked two to complete the fifth no-hitter in program history.
Jacob was outstanding from the start, retiring the first 10 batters he faced. Gonzaga got him all the run support he needed with a seven-run fourth inning, taking advantage of four walks and a hit batter in the inning.
Jacob has been excellent for the Zags since moving into the rotation at the start of the month. In three starts, he has held West Coast Conference opponents to three runs on nine hits and three walks in 23 innings, while striking out 29 batters. With him leading the way, Gonzaga (21-12, 10-3) is leading the West Coast Conference.
Mack spin -
Have no previous paper on him but congrats anyway.
I wonder if he plays basketball? You know… college… Gonzaga… oh, never mind,

Cowser, Baez look like two good second rounders for Mets to consider.
Frelick could be the next Gregg Jefferies, maybe? Is that enough to pick him first round over a pitcher? Always need pitchers.
Right now, Frelick is outperforming all other outfielders but he still is too small for me.
The Mets struck gold once with a shortstop/pitcher combo . . maybe Schwellenbach is the guy to target!
