Jim Hickman was a mediocre hitter most of his career, except at age 33, in 1970, when as a Cub he had 32 HR, 115 RBI, and hit .315 with a .419 OBP. Somehow, only 8th in MVP voting.

Sure seemed like Hickman would kill the Mets whenever they played the Cubs in the 70's.

Too Much, Too Little, Too Late

Whatever. Wasn't this a song once? Who knows. I bet Mack would know.

The loss to the Cubs yesterday, no big deal.

The "too much" here is JD Davis's throws. The one I saw was a textbook one-hopper into the mitt. The man does deserve better respect from the NY sports reporters. So stop it already will ya' please.

JD is coming off a hand injury and look at his offensive production already people. He's an awesomely good player and I am glad that he's back healthy again. The Mets need him to be.

On Jake's possible arm barking, wanting his start pushed back to Friday.

Look, this isn't Jason Vargas we're talking about here. This is Jacob deGrom for goodness sakes, Franchise Jake. Maybe two-weeks IR. In his roster place, maybe call up 25 year old Sam McWilliams, and hand the next two Jake starts over to Robert Gsellman. The reasons are obvious. Jake has had this same situation before with arm barks (2019) and the Mets absolutely need to have Jake the rest of the season at 100% healthy. Pitching in the colder temperatures doesn't help it I have noticed. Even just mildly chancing this situation with Jake (if the case) in April, is a dumb thing to do.

Jake knows his arm, but he's a "trench warfare fighter mentality guy with 99 mph handgrenades" who hates to surrender to "arm barking types of things" that he considers inconsequential. But common sense must dictate here, so that Jake can adequately calm this possible arm situation down and rest it before it does become a larger problem for him.

Robert Gsellman has proven himself here as a NY Met and can easily handle this assignment for Jake two starts. I believe in "The G-Man" totally.

On Taijuan Walker

This young starter is so awesome. He hits 95 mph consistently and has good movement on his pitches. Can fool even veteran batters easily and has the makings to be at least a two starter anywhere, and on any team. I love the "Fuego" Taijuan brings every start out. Great pitcher in the making all around. Outstanding signing for the Mets.

I see three wins the rest of the way with these Cubbies, and that's even resting Jake.

Let's Go Mets! Yeah baby!
