Mets Games Played On This Date: April 4

The Mets have played 15 games in their History on April 4th with a 9 and 6 record. Ron Darling outduels Bruce Berenyi as the Mets get their first win in 1984, Dwight Gooden gets an 1994 Opening Day win despite 3 homers from Tuffy Rhodes, and John Maine throws 7 scoreless in a 10-0 2007 win over the Cardinals.

ESPN.com: A pinpoint Strasburg outpitched Noah Syndergaard, rookie Victor Robles homered for Washington's only hit until the ninth inning and the Nationals beat the drowsy Mets 4-0 on Thursday.

Robert Gsellman got the win with 2 innings of relief after Noah Syndergaard went 4 innings giving up 2 runs.   Yoenis Cespedes homered and with the score tied 2-2, Amed Rosario had a 2 run triple to put the Mets ahead for good.

You Tube: Duda's two homers lift Mets to first 2014 win. Jenrry Mejia struck out eight in a strong start, while Lucas Duda's pair of two-run homers lifted the Mets.

Eric Stults, 5 shut out innings, and the Padres Bullpen bested Dillon Gee who gave up just one run over 6.1 innings.  John Buck had a 9th inning homer for the Mets but it was too little too late.

John Maine led the pitching with 7 scoreless innings, Carlos Beltran had 2 Home Runs and 4 RBIs, and Jose Reyes had a HR and 3 RBIs to lead a 12 hit Met attack.

The Mets took a 6-4 lead into the 9th but were “Dunn”in by Adam Dunn who hit his second of two HRs on the night to tie the game and Joe Randa who homered to win the game.  Both came off Braden Looper who did not record an out.

David Cone threw 5 shutout innings and got his only win of 2003.  Mo Vaughn added a HR.

Shawn Estes had a quality start, 7 innings – 3 runs, but outside of solo HRs from Joe McEwing and Jeromy Burnitz, the Mets were not able to overcome Jimmy Anderson and 3 Pirate relievers.

Despite tying the game at 2 in the top of the 9th off John Rocker, the Mets lost to the Braves when Donne Wall walked Brian Jordan to start the bottom of the 9th and Turk Wendell gave up a double to ex-Met Rico Brogna scoring Jordan.

The Mets got a 13 inning walk-off win when Rich Becker single in Edgardo Alfonzo.  Becker also added a 2 run homer as part of a 3 for 5 night.

The Mets tied the game at 3 in the 6th behind a triple from Lance Johnson and a double by Todd Hundley, but the Giants got the win when they scored 3 in the 7th off Ricardo Jordan and Greg McMichael.

After the Mets built an 8-3 lead, the Cardinals tied the game in the 8th against Doug Henry, Blas Minor and John Franco, taking the lead in the 9th.  The Mets scored twice against Dennis Eckersley off a pinch hit single by Brent Mayne.

The Tuffy Rhodes game.  Tuffy hits 3 HRS off Dwight Gooden but the Mets get 16 hits to give Dwight a 12-8 win.  Jose Vizcaino, Todd Hundley, and Jeff Kent all went deep for the Mets.

The Mets hit 6 HRs, 2 from Darryl Strawberry and 2 from Kevin McReynolds and one each from Lenny Dykstra and Kevin Elster.  Dwight Gooden goes 5 innings giving up 11 hits and 4 runs.  David Cone gives up 2 runs in relief as Randy Myers throw the last 1.2 innings for the Save.
