1968
Jerry Koosman, who sets a new franchise mark for victories, getting his 17th win of the season when the Mets beat Pittsburgh at Forbes Field, 4-3. The rookie southpaw, en route to a 19-12 record (.613), breaks the team record established by Tom Seaver last year.
1973
To prevent an injury, the second game of the Mets-Expos doubleheader at Jarry Park is delayed for 11 minutes. The setting sun over the rim of the Montreal ballpark makes it impossible for the first baseman to see the ball being thrown from certain positions on the field.

1978
In a 9-4 victory over the Expos, Mets backstop John Stearns establishes a new mark for National League catchers with his 25th stolen base. Johnny Kling swiped 24 bases catching for the Cubs in 1902.
1984
On his way to hurling a one-hitter, Dwight 'Doc' Gooden fans Cub Ron Cey for his 228th strikeout, setting a National League rookie record. The Mets phenom passes Grover Cleveland Alexander, who established the mark in 1911 with 227.




1963 - In the Reds' 4 - 2 win, Frank Robinson suffers a spike wound requiring 30 stitches when Mets 2B Ron Hunt lands on his left arm.

2016 - The Mets sign former Heisman Trophy winner and NFL quarterback Tim Tebow to a minor league contract. At 29, he is set to begin his baseball career in the Florida Instructional League.

The offense is crap.

Don’t rush the prospects to the bigs…Kelenic still under .160.

Agreed Tom on both points.

Vientos struggled at first at AA - let him prove himself at AAA before bringing him up.
