David Groveman asked:
When is another GM going to be giving Sandy a call about Josh Satin? Seems to me that he's making waves now that he's in a friendlier league for hitters.
Interesting question.
Josh and I have kept in touch since his Savannah days. I have always stood by him since the days someone invented he was a 'bad second baseman'.
Satin does very little wrong, especially with a bat. I'm specially proud of the way he has developed his defensive game, on first, second, or anywhere else the Mets have played him.
Satin has been used as an insurance policy for his entire minor league career. Call it greedy, but that's what the Mets decided years ago to do with him. He really has never had a chance to make it to Queens.
This is the last year that Josh is 'owned' by the Mets. All the other teams know that also. There's no reason to trade for him when you can sign him come the off-season and lose no one from your system.
Once again, it's tough shit time for Satin.
