Herd:
Well, we're back down to four starters again, now that Tim Redding has been called up. For now, Kyle Snyder will fill in the 5th spot, but one wonders if Nelson Figueroa will be sent back down again. Also, Ken Takahashi might reutrn to Buffalo.
Don't expect any more pitchers being bumped from Binghamton for a while. Right now, there isn't anyone there earning a spot.
It looks like the Mets are going to keep Fernando Martinez in Buffalo for, at least, the first half of the season. The only position I look for a possible change in the next week, would be first base, if the Mets decide to break up the B-Met duo of Lucas Duda and Nick Evans.
B-Mets:
As of today, the rotation is Dylan Owen, Nick Abel, Jose Sanchez, Ryan Coultas, and
Tobi Stoner... not what you would call the best in their league. I've been touting Angel Calero for a few weeks now and I really think he should be moved here and return Abel to a relif role... we'll see...
The real mess on this team is first base. You can't sit Lucas Duda, who has hit well this year, and you can't sit Nick Evans, who projects out as a better prospect than Duda, especially in a trade package. The only alternative, other than promote prematurely Duda to AAA, is to play Evans in the outfield.
Josh Thole will not be rushed, and believe me, he will be protected in the off-season Rule V draft... no more Jesus Florez screw ups.
Lucy:
The starting rotation of Brad Holt, Jenry Meija, Angel Calero, Eric Niesen, and
Scott Shaw are solidly entrenched here and, if someone goes to the B-Mets, the call up from Savannah will be either Elvin Ramirez or Jeffrey Kaplan.
There's an outside chance that Brant Rustich is reinstated as a starter, and don't forget Scott Moviel, who's currently on the DL.
