Projected SP Movement in System: May 15 - June 15

AAA:
Right now, Livan Hernandez and Jonathan Niese are holding their own, but e all know that can change in a New York minute.
I don’t expect Oliver Perez to start rehab until after the all-star break. The Mets want the furor over his contract and lack of performance to go away for awhile.
That leaves AAA right now with four starters, which includes Tim Redding, who is expected to go to the Queens bullpen.
If that happens, someone has to be DFA’d and that will most probably be a relief pitcher, which will not affect the rotational needs.
So, AAA is still in need of 2 starters.
My guess: Fernando Nieve and Ryan Coultas, both up from AA.

AA:
There are two starters currently on the DL that, when activated, will come back to AA; however, there is very little word about Jake Ruckle and his difficulty in getting back velocity. I can only speculate that there is a chance he will be released a la Matt Durkin around a year ago.
Tobi Stoner will not be released and will return first to AA, before moving on to AAA later on this year.
I also think there’s a good chance that Jose Sanchez is released as the pressure to promote some of the young kids that are stuck in A+ and A…
If all this happens, look for Angel Calero and Brad Holt to move north, now that the weather has warmed up.

A+

Again, if all this happens, there will be two openings at the A+ level. There’s a bunch of guys doing well at the A level, but I would expect the college boys, like either Eric Beaulac or Jeremy Kaplan to move up first. The other slot would go to Scott Moviel, when he comes off the IR.

A:

There would be no opening at A, since they are currently operating with a six-man rotation.
