Update - 11th Round - LHP - Adam Kolarek

Kolarek, drafted after his junior year at the University of Maryland, had to make a decision -- either to go back to school for his senior year, or to begin his professional baseball career in the Mets organization. He chose to pursue his dream and sign with the Mets. "It's what I've been working so hard for my entire life and it's about to unfold," Kolarek said. "I'm more excited than nervous."  Kolarek will go to Port St. Lucie, Fla., on June 17 for a week-long mini-camp, then begin his pro career playing in Kingsport, TN for former Major League catcher Mike DiFelice in the Appalachian League. "The goal is definitely to start playing because the sooner you start, the sooner they can start working with you and evaluating you and determining your path," Kolarek said. The Mets gave him a signing bonus, paid for the rest of his college when he goes back and offered him incentives. The six-figure package is a welcome bonus, but Kolarek knows his heart lies on the pitcher's mound.
