Considering that the Mets minor league system has allowed them to trade for Johan Santana / JJ Putz and others and has also graduated a good number of players who should be a part of the team's future, would you say that the Met's system has done its job, recently? I know it hasn't ever been considered one of the top systems in the game but it is clearly better than before and clearly has helped the big league club, correct?

Big market teams aren't tremendously famous for developing home grown teams and I have always been a fan of using your secondary prospects as a means to trading for what you really need.
No better example of this was the Johan Santana deal, in which the Mets traded five kids, none of which have come back to haunt the team.
Fans tend to re-hash the same bad trades, but frankly , the Mets under Omar Minaya have not had that many. The one everybody keeps talking about is the loss of Heath Bell and Royce Ring, but, for the most part, Omar's trades have been good ones.
Not enough trade, but good ones.
