Q&A Weekend: - When Will Mets Make The Playoffs?

Frank from Brooklyn, NY asked: - The last two met seasons have been chimed the same tune, disappointment. Through all the injuries, under performing players, scandals, and media relation disasters when do you honestly believe this Met team has even a chance of playing meaningful games in September?

Hmm.. actually, in my opinion, this year was the closest they had come in the past three years.

Just imagine if Billy Wagner and J.J. Putz were still on this team and the Mets had zero walk off loses this year. They'd be in the playoffs, even with this poor hitting.

The problem is now economics takes over. The organization has  produced some good young players, but this is about it for 2 more seasons. The current salary mess will also prevent any big free agent signings, so this is the team that will play in 2011 and 2012.

I thought this was going to be a great lineup...  Reyes, Murphy, Beltran, Wright, Bay, Francoeur...

Now, it will be Reyes, Pagan, Beltran, Wright, Davis, Bay.

It's a dam good lineup if they all do their job correctly and there are no injuries.

Still, my conservative guess is the Mets won't make the playoffs for at least two more seasons.

Now, sign Cliff Lee, that Japanese dude, and Crawford...  oops, sorry... that's the Yankees.
