Mets Merized Online
Rubin: Mets Sign Vinny Rottino and Valentino Pascucci

Adam Rubin os ESPNNewYork, reports the Mets have signed Vinny Rottino and Valentino Pascucci to minor league deals.
Rottino could be particularly valuable as a utility player. He’s capable of playing first base, third base, left field and right field while serving as a third catcher.
Rottino was 2-for-14 for the Marlins at the major league level this past season, in his first major league action since 2008. He hit .304 with 10 homers and 59 RBIs in 467 at-bats with Triple-A New Orleans. This season in the minors, Rottino caught 39 games, had 11 games at first base, 66 games in left field and two in right field.
Pascucci, a September call-up, had 21 homers and 91 RBIs for Buffalo this past season

Pascucci will be back in Buffalo to re-take 1B duties. As for Rottino. I have ZERO idea.

Bench piece with the major league club perhaps?? His numbers suggest he's too good to be riding the pine in AAA. OF is crowded right now in the upper two levels with Kirk, F-Mart, Lagares, Puello, and Den Dekker. Lutz is at 3B, Pas is back at 1B.

Anyone have a scouting report on him Catcher wise? Could he be Thole's back-up? If not then I guess I'd slot him in as the Buffalo starting Catcher and bump Dusty Ryan back to AA, which bumps Kai Groaneur or Francisco Pena back to Single A. But I already have 7 catchers between the 3 A clubs. GAAHHHH.

Ok NY bench piece IMO until more research is done.

I thought Rottino was a form of pasta.

(he's an outfielder... emergency catcher at best)

The Val sign is weird... I would have thought that Allan Dykstra would play first at Buffalo.
