With a lack of depth at 3B in the system as well in MLB as a whole, I hope the Mets keep an eye on Michael Olt. If (when, unfortunately) they decide to trade David Wright, I hope the team then makes a call to Texas to see if they can swing a deal for Olt to become the heir apparent. He already has a great defensive reputation and can hit for power. Since he's blocked by Beltre, I think the Rangers might look to move him....possibly at the deadline.
I don't think Wright will get traded. Secondly, if he does, I would hope the Mets would ask for and get a hell of a lot more than just Olt.
Profar looks like a rare SS talent. I like him a lot.
@Stephen - just to clarify, I don't think Wright will get traded. If he does, I don't think he'd go to the Rangers, especially not with Beltre there. Also, I agree, the Mets should look for a lot more than Olt.
My thinking is that if the Mets do trade Wright - to the Tigers? the Blue Jays? Rockies? - that they would then make a separate deal with Texas for Olt. There aren't a lot of 3B out there and I think Olt could be a productive batter and great defensive player. He'd easily become the best 3B in the system.
