I’m a minor league guy and I tend to judge suits on how they handle the kids, sign prospects, and trade for progress. 2011 is over and my “book” on Sandy and Company is still a work in progress; however, he hasn’t done much to get me to defend him after getting three top blue chippers off the roster. In essence, Sandy Alderson received SP Zack Wheeler, SP Adrian Rosario, RP Daniel Herrera, a 2012 supplemental 1st round draft pick, and a 2012 4th round draft pick for OF Carlos Beltran, CL Francisco Rodriguez, SS Jose Reyes, and a substantial amount of cash. Such a deal.
The live reports from the sports management class of Troy University never happened. I have no idea why. I got an email from them on Monday saying they would be posting later that day, but they never did. I could email him and ask why, but, nah, I’ll just let this run its course. Maybe this never happened or I just made it up. No! I know who did this. Tobi Stoner, right?
One of the agents at the Dallas show said “the Mets are waiting for most of the closers to sign elsewhere before signing K-Rod. Should minimize fan criticism.”
I know this has nothing to do with the meetings this week, but the Big East announced today that they are adding Boise State & San Diego State for football only, and Houston, Central Florida and SMU for all sports. You have to be fucking with me.
It’s interesting watching this Albert Pujois drama continue. The Marlins can’t keep building up and breakout down teams unless they don’t give out no-trade clauses. That being said, this is Albert Pujois, who can pretty damn well demand anything he wants. The question I can’t seem to answer is are the Bell-Reyes verbal deal etched in stone? Will Jose balk at him not getting a clause if Albert gets one? One thing I do know is how deeply Albert is invested in the city of St. Louis. He’s entirely too rich now which makes me wonder why another $20mil can make a guy leave a city he’s a God in, has all his money invested in, and whose family loves being in.
Mark Buehrle has narrowed his choices to five teams, meaning the Mets will lose out to one of four of them.
