RHP Cody Poteet
6-10-11 from http://www.draftsite.com/mlb/mock-draft/2012 - 19 Tampa Bay Cody Peteet RHP Christian High School (CA) 6' 0" 180
6-19-11: - Cody Poteet entered the event as one of the top 2012 draft-eligible players, and threw his fastball well, consistently hitting 91, touching 92. Once he started getting his 75-77 curveball over more effectively he looked more confident with his fastball. He has a nice, athletic build and a live arm.- http://www.perfectgame.org/Articles/View.aspx?article=5909
7-19-11: - http://www.mlbbonusbaby.com/2011/6/29/2250656/early-look-at- 2012#comments - Cody Poteet, Christian HS, Bonita Cal, 6’1 175, quick arm from 3/4 slot, touched 92, most were 89-90 with life in vs RHH, sink when down, cb was easy to read and very hittable, control was good, seemed to find bats however. Keep an eye on him.
8-8-11 per Twitter: - NickJFaleris - Cody Poteet (rhp, Christian HS, Bonita, Calif.) solid over 2 IP. 91-2 FB bumped 93 w/above average U70 breaker. Projects to RP. #MLBDraft
8-12-11: - http://www.prospectwire.com/pw/article.php?id=290 - The Brewers pitcher who was most impressive was RHP Cody Poteet (6'1" 178, Bonita, CA). I think he is actually a little shorter than 6'1" and a little heavier but that being said, I love his stuff and how he goes about his business. He reminds me in some ways of Astros RHP Bud Norris when he was younger, with his bulldog demeanor and good aggressive use of his stuff. Poteet was 88-91 mph with the fastball that comes out with good down angle from his overhand slot. He also has a hard 77-78 mph curveball that was about as good as any curveball I saw in Long Beach. At times it was a hammer and is a legitimate swing and miss pitch.
11-22-11: - http://espn.go.com/blog/high-school/baseball/post/_/id/814/lucas-giolito-leads-loaded-cali-senior-class - Here’s a look at the Top 10 California high school prospects in the Class of 2012. 7. Cody Poteet, RHP, Christian (El Cajon, Calif.) Packing a bigger fastball than his 6-foot-1, 180-pound frame suggests, Poteet is also able to create some plane to his heater that sits at 90 to 93 mph. He throws from around a three-quarter arm slot, which creates some tilt to his curveball. He's a bulldog on the mound and I'm a little bullish on him here at No. 7, but his lack of projection doesn't bother me all that much.

Poteet intrigues me quite a bit and I feel he might be one of those kids who falls deeper than he should. I am surprised to see Felaris' prediction that he is a future reliever. I wonder what he bases that off of. Perhaps his inability to use his curve as an out pitch but can't that be worked on with time? We're talking about a 17-year-old, after all...
