1. Nick Evans signed a deal with the Pittsburgh Pirates. I’m really pissed about this one. I’ve been tough on Nick over the last couple of years, even though he’s a really nice guy. I just didn’t think he had what it took to make it in Queens, but he proved me wrong last September when he played every day. No, he was never going to be a first-stringer; however, his versatility (3B-1B-RF-LF) was proving out to equal his ability to hit well enough to make it in 2012 as a utility player. Then, the Mets drop him from the 40-man for, what, the 8th time? Wouldn’t you declare free agency and get on the bus, Gus? It just made me think about how much Jerry really hated this guy and you would think he was still the skipper on this decision. I really hope Nick comes to town some night and kicks the Mets ass. I really do.
2. I know that the last thing baseball needs right now is a shot in the arm, but still, the return of Bobby Valentine can do nothing but make a great sport more entertain able. We currently don’t have enough Leo Durocher’s in the sport, no less Tommy LaSorda. Bobby will make network executives re-plan their on-air schedules for 2012. He has that entertainment value. Buster Olney said it best this morning: “Somebody should make this sign and hang it on entrance to the Red Sox clubhouse: ALL PRECONCEIVED NOTIONS TO BE LEFT HERE, NEVER TO ENTER.”
3. I think some readers confused my lack of respect for the ownership of this team with the gutty, positive job the players did in 2012. This team doesn’t have enough talent on the field to win a World Series, and, once again, the injury bug hit them bad; however, the rag-tag group on the field every day scored more runs that the Philadelphia Phillies and Milwaukee Brewers. All they had to do was win half of their one-run games, and they would have easily been in the playoffs. No, it’s the front off I have the pad on for and I will continue to until it changes.
4. I’ve walked away from Twitter. I’m unable to control my typing when I read some of the shit on there. So far this quarter, I have told Keith Law, Andy Martino, and Adam Rubin to go suck an egg. I should be down to Dick Young by Easter. I continue to be unable to ignore some of their comments, especially the ones directed at me. I’m old enough to know better. I have the self-imposed pressure of putting a post up on this site every two hours from 3am to Midnight. I currently have 16 active writers here, but only Phlavio offers me daily relief from my tasks. I can find what I need, get my 1000 hits a day, and make my $881.12 a year without the time spent there.
5. My holiday donation push has ended. I received four more donations, totaling $129.62 (one was $19.62). That brings the yearly donations to seven people and $179.62. I also attempted to sell my “Keepers” list for $9, but there were no takers. Add advertising revenue and the total monies made by Mack’s Mets in 2011 is $881.12.

1) I agree, I thought it was a no brainer to have Evans on the 2012 roster. He and Turner were the righties on the bench and Murphy and either Fernando Martinez or Kirk Nieuwenhuis could be the lefties.
2) I want to know if he's going to juggle the lineup as frequently as when he was with the Mets. You can sorta do that with Ellsbury, Crawford and Pedroia.

The Mets gave up on Evans too early and too easily. I'm rooting for him to do well.
I've stopped expecting the Mets to make positive moves regarding the team. Therefore, loosing a cheap, valuable, quality bat like Evans, and one that would probably out produce Jason Bay if given the opportunity, doesn't surprise me and is expected....Bobby V's return is overdue and great for me personally. Having something to route for other then the Mets is a pleasant surprise.....I guess you are trying to be the "better person" by exiting the Twitter universe. That's your choice and probably a good move. Beat reporters will never give the blogger community a pat on the back. I know it must be so frustrating when your product is so much more informative and superior to the daily filler they're scribbling onto their IPADs. Don't think they don't realize that aswell, which obviously frustrates them and that's what causes them to not only talk shit in Twitter Land but also to sneak around anonymous style planting their idiotic remarks on various blogs. They think they're cute, but they're just really really stupid and need to learn what it means to be humble....As far as helping out more in terms of posting, i'll definatly try.
