I see the Pirates want Ike Davis but the mets want Lincoln and Marte. Marte seems to be an awesome addition to our farm system. If the Mets do this trade could we get Yonder Alonso for first from the Reds for Niese??

Hey Bill.
As of this morning, Davis is off the board and he probably never was. Still, if he was traded, I would expect Lucas Duda to be moved back to his natural position.
You can't trade a homegrown star who is under 27 years old. It simply sends a message to every player in baseball to stay away from this team.

It seems that is the Mets REALLY wanted Marte, the best thing to do would be to try and trade Niese straight up for him rather than some convoluted 2-part deal.
Trading Davis for Marte would be a huge mistake. He shouldn't be moved at all, but if he were, the Mets should be looking for a young player with a ceiling of SP1-2....if not, keep Davis as the present and future at 1B and as the #5 hitter.
