I May Be Wrong, But… HS Stats, Ownership, Gee,

 • My buddy, Matt Grabusky, over at MLB Draft Guide, broke out some stats today on the bigger high school names out there that are going to be offered a seven figure bonus to sign with the team that drafts them.

Here’s a few that represent them all:

Pitchers: Austin Fairchild – 17.1 innings pitched
              Max Foody – 19.0-IP
              Kayden Porter – 9.0-IP,
              Mitchell Traver – 29.2-IP
Anthony Alford – 30 at bats
              Keon Barnum – 37-AB
              Beau Cebulski – 6-AB

Can anyone really determine the value of a kid in his senior year of high school after this amount of innings pitched or at bats during games against inferior competition?

 • You probably will never read this. I’m just writing this to get it off my chest. If you read me you already know I really don’t care who owns what. The Dolan and Mara family never prevented me from rooting for the Knicks and Jints, and who in the hell would I hate at the Garden? What do I want?

o Exercise the option on David Wright

o Release Mike Pelfrey at the end of this season

o Package Johan Santana and Jason Bay to a playoff team in a deal where 75% of the existing contract dollars are paid by the Mets for one prospect… let’s say, Anthony Renaudo from Boston.

o Sign either catcher Russell Martin or Brian McCann in the off-season.

o While you’re at it, sign Michael Bourne

Just get back in the game, guys.

- The good news is there is one more pitcher ready for opening day.

Dillon Gee put up another good outing last night and joins Jon Niese as two spot on starters. Mets fans may want to stop wondering why Gee gets it done without any sick velo... yet, no one ever questioned Tom Glavine when he threw this way. Gee hit his pitch count after 5.2 scoreless innings and now has a 3.07 springtime ERA.
